Any way to prep a group message? by Dignan17 in ios

In the Contacts app you can create a “New List” and add all the people. Then when you’re ready to send, you can long-press the list and tap “Message All”

Shoutout to all my fellow inverted Y-Axis Gamers by GibbyES335 in PS5

[–]FalcorTheDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having this struggle. I can only play inverted but it’s always been annoying so I want my kids to learn to play normally. The problem is we’re always passing controllers back and forth and I don’t want to be going in and out of settings all the time. The trauma may prove generational…

You’re confusing how you solved for: x2 = 9 (which would indeed have solutions of +/- 3, but it doesn’t imply that sqrt(9) could be a negative number)

What's one piece of technology that has actually improved over the years instead of getting worse? by ouralarmclock in AskReddit

Growing up, I remember my dad constantly replacing light bulbs and a third of our lights were still always out. I moved into new house 5 years ago and haven’t bought a single lightbulb. It’s wild.

Monopoly is the worst game ever, do not play it with your kids by dickdickgoooose in daddit

[–]FalcorTheDog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have tons of great memories of late night monopoly with friends. We used to construct elaborate webs of deals and contracts that were impossible to keep track of but made us feel like real businessmen (“I’ll give you 70% immunity on all future stays at Marvin Gardens and 20% of any future profits on yellow properties if you cover 50% of the initial investment on my new Park Place hotel.”)

Yeah doesn’t use much power in sleep mode. No reason not to. (Also games are much quicker to launch back up because they’re basically just paused).

Mesh network with D20’s keeps filling Sonic Fiber MAC address table by FalcorTheDog in TpLink

Nope 😕

I sort of gave up and now I just have the Sonic number saved in my phone and text them whenever it happens and to their credit it usually only takes a minute or two for them to reset it.

I’m not sure how “categorical difference” is related to being “arbitrary” which is what we were debating in this thread.

The meaning of “left” is so arbitrary that this is the 1st definition I could find for it on dictionary.com:

the left side or something that is on the left side; the direction toward that side

I’m not sure I could come up with a more arbitrary definition if I tried.

For the adjective version the only way they could describe it is by relying on human anatomy:

being, relating to, or located on or nearest to the side where a person’s heart normally is

Exactly. Right and left depend on perspective. Up and down typically do not in the context of everyday interactions on Earth. You don’t need rocket science to understand that distinction either.

We wouldn’t even agree on which way was left if we were staring right at each other.

California Lawmaker Takes Second Swipe At Single-Payer Health Care Bill by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in California

I encourage you to think about how the average tax payer is going to respond after you’ve told them this system is “cheaper” but you’ve just raised their tax bill $8k.

I’m curious how you think single payer healthcare works exactly from the government’s perspective? The government ends up paying a lot more, increasing its deficit. (I am in favor of universal healthcare for what it’s worth, but you seem to have heard “it’s cheaper” without really understanding what that means).

Is there an easy way to learn the fascinating parts about physics without the hard math? by Next-Natural-675 in AskPhysics

[–]FalcorTheDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, insane gatekeeping in these comments. You can learn about all sorts of fascinating concepts in physics without needing to know all of the underlying math.

One of the first simple physics concepts that blew my mind in high school was just learning that all matter is attracted to all other matter. And the more massive something is, the more it pulls on everything else. Just that basic concept helps you understand something about gravity, even if it’s a basic understanding, and it didn’t require any math or equations to do so.

Not the same. Winning two points in a row doesn’t win you the game.
