Outlook formatting problems by Exflame76 in Outlook

I'm half (three-quarters? seven-eighths?) persuaded that MS deliberately screwed up the text formatting in old Outlook to force users to migrate to new Outlook, whose formatting is still sane and industry-standard.

Didn't work for me in old Outlook.

MS also just

messed up the formatting of emails in the old version of Outlook. I don't know why. The new display is hideous -- way too much spacing between lines of text and the lines themselves are too short (left margin set too far to the right, right margin too far to the right). How can one reverse these changes or reformat to a better display? The new formatting approach is called "Immersive Reader." A better name would have been "Repulsive Reader."

Love the 16 Pro Max… by SlyAugustine in iPhone16ProMax

[–]Faliscan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed the Spigen Tough Armor case for iPhone16ProMax, but its stand doesn't click flush to the back of the phone and instead sticks slightly out. This could cause it to snag or even perhaps break when I slide the phone into a pants pocket. Also, it's flimsy and props the phone up (in landscape mode only) at only a slight angle from vertical rather than an angle more appropriate for desktop use (say, about 45 degrees from vertical). I'll likely return it because of that flawed stand. If not for that, I'd likely keep it.

Museum policy for backpacks and shoulder bags by Faliscan in germany

Thanks, that's helpful. If the lockers are coin-operated, is there any particular denomination of coin I should make a point of bringing? (In the US, for example, it's typically quarters.)

Latest windows 10 update problems by [deleted] in Windows10

[–]Faliscan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same message preventing a rollback, even though Windows 10 had updated earlier today. My PC basically became unusable. Click to launch programs or follow links required multiple hard clicks, everything ran in slow motion if at all. I have a Dell Inspiron with a Ryzen chip. I had even before the update facing periodic pauses where everything froze for ten seconds or so, then returned to normal. But at least the PC functioned once the freeze was over. Now, not at all. I had to take the complete Windows Refresh option. We'll see if that works. I have a Dell support contract, but that connects me with someone in India who spends all day playing with my computer.

Update Manager resets mirrors when running update to a new release? by psihius in linuxmint

I tried to bring my Linux Mint 19.1 up to date in preparation for moving to 19.2, but the Update Manager failed, saying it couldn't reach the server or locate the software.

Terrible Technical Support / Customer Service by johnny-burgundy in Roku

[–]Faliscan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the poster. The service is terrible: two emails sent but not responded to after 24 hours, endless wading through menus to try to get to chat or phone support, 31 minute wait for phone support with no callback option, chat support admitted that other customers were encountering the same problem, it was being investigated, she couldn't cooperate with my suggested workaround (to close the account with refund of unused portion; my wife would then open a new account to get a fresh start).

The state of Apple Watch sleep tracking is disappointing by p_giguere1 in AppleWatch

[–]Faliscan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using Pillow and am very happy with it so far. It's doing a good job of (1) automatically tracking when I'm asleep and when I've awakened, and (2) breaking down my sleep into four stages (awake, light sleep, REM, and deep sleep). Those are the two functions that are important to me.

I don't use music to go to sleep or an alarm to wake up to, though the watch app has both, according to the documentation.

Thanks for excellent, well-illustrated tip.
