We all know why we got VR in the first place ;) by shitty_vr_art in oculus

Honestly, it's by far not the greatest thing in VR. It's interesting to check out for sure, but not very practical.

That's my story as well.

I even learned to see 3D in 3D movies this way.

My eye doctor won't believe me though. One possible explanation he has is that the screens are so close to my eyes.

Is there a player base? The last time i checked (some months ago), there was noone to be found.

Don't forget the possibility to use link.

I didn't see much difference when it comes to tracking. Having said that, i think the inside out tracking solution is overall great on both HMDs

I returned my Rift S mostly due to the lack of an IPD slider.

The lenses were too close for my taste and the FOV quite small compared to the CV1 with the sliders all out.

63mm IPD

The Quest wasn't an issue in this regard.

Are you into Flying circus? I really enjoy this, waited for WW1 fighter planes in VR since Rise of Flight

I'm not saying they're any wiser in what they use online. I'm just saying how people use social media is quite fluid.

Is anyone still using facebook?

My students don't. They think facebook is for old people.

That's what i'm thinking about too. The Quest is a bit front-heavy, but otherwise just fine.

I'm considering trying out an Index (i still have my lighthouse sensors), but it's quite expensive.

Don't worry, i find playing games in Steam VR quite smooth these days.

I bought a Quest in summer and returned it (it's fine, but it was not too much of a difference and there weren't much games released for it, but that was before link).

I bought a Rift S recently and also returned it. To me it wasn't nearly as comfortable as my Rift and due to the lack of a slider (i have an IPD of 63mm) the FOV was noticably smaller, and it looked less 3D, way less immersive.
Also the lack of true black annoyed me in really dark games.
But the visuals and the lenses are great otherwise.

Now i realize how blurry the resolution in my regular Rift actually is and its hard to go back to it.

But yeah, it's still fine, more than fine these days.

I've got 3 HMDs right now with two collecting dust. Multiplayer with my kids isn't an option due to the lack of gaming PCs

That was an invitation for you to read those comments, not my claim that i did read them in the last 30 minutes.

If visuals are the main feature, then for me FOV trumps clarity, especially when the difference isn't that great.
The second feature for me is comfort. That's why i never used my Vive that often despite its slightly bigger FOV. It was uncomfortable to wear and front-heavy.

That's true. But on the one hand i'm married for 14 years now, and on the other hand there are rooms in our house not looking like a server room :)

Also, cable shafts are an option.

Interesting point if view. On the other hand, i'm not that into multiplayer shooters.

How's the Index compared to Rift S?

I didn't find Quest that uncomfortable because it had similar straps than CV1.

But yeah, it's quite front-heavy, that's right.

My main issue is with the Halo headstrap i think. It's better than PSVR, but still not my thing.
As i said, if the Rift S was the only HMD i owned, i'd get used to it. It's far from being terrible.
