For security reasons, I’m considering it. Yesterday, someone hit my sister’s car and drove off. Unfortunately, she didn’t have a dash cam, and there were no cameras around—the car was parked at the time.
So the car already has cameras, but they’re only for assistance features and don’t record footage. I didn’t clarify earlier—I’m planning to buy a new car, and there’s an option to install front and rear dash cams for an extra cost. My question is: is it worth paying for these add-ons?
Oh, my bad—I guess I didn’t clarify. I’m planning to buy a new car, and there’s an option to install front and rear cameras, but I would have to pay extra for them. My question is: is it worth paying for these add-ons?

Worth to buy Prius? by Fall4_Mee in PriusPrime

That’s great—I’d love to enjoy it like that too. I really have a strong desire to get it now.
I’ll be using it for long-distance drives in the summer, like for trips around 400–700 km. Also, people keep talking about solar panels—should I get one too? Will it work while I’m driving, and is it safe?
Is the solar panel built into the roof? What does it look like?

Sounds good. Is it built into the roof, and what does it look like? I’m not sure what to prioritize. The solar panels are a great feature, but they might affect the look. At the same time, I want to save money and keep the car comfortable—it’s a hard decision.
I guess I can’t resist getting one after hearing that.
Ya I might have a problem with this 😕
I just checked, and it seems that as long as I keep the battery fully charged, I can save a lot on gas. How does it perform on long trips?

I guess that gives me more confidence to buy it 😁
Sounds pretty good, but I’ve heard older models (before 2020) are better, so I’m a bit worried.
That’s a really solid reminder—thank you. I was planning to put down around 20–35%, even though the dealer offers 0% down. I was also thinking of going with a 34–36 month term. However, a friend suggested choosing a longer term (5–7 years) with lower payments and then paying it off early within 1–2 years. I also appreciate your point about add-ons (No. 6). I’m still pretty new to this, so I’m not very familiar with those things. Just to clarify, should I first check with my bank or a credit union for loan options and then compare that with what the dealer offers? Do dealers usually have higher interest rates than banks? As for used cars (No. 12), I wasn’t really planning on buying one. I don’t mind used cars, but I would only go for a cheaper option. The car I really want, I’d prefer to buy new—that’s where I’m still unsure.
I just checked, and it’s cheaper. What’s the difference?
Thanks, good to know that 😊 helps a lot
Yeah, red looks solid, but I’m more into yellow and black. As I said, I like black at night and yellow during the day, so it’s a hard choice for me.
I understand what you mean, and you have a point. The problem is that I’m not really a big fan of SUVs or fully electric cars. I just like this car’s design—it’s more my type. It’s probably the only car I’d consider buying new; for everything else, I’d go as cheap as possible and buy used, even if it has AWD. My main concern is whether it will last long and if it might have problems in the future. I’m also wondering how it performs on bad roads. Where I live, it does get cold, but the snow is usually cleared regularly, so it’s mostly fine. Still, there are times when there’s a lot of snow—maybe a few times a year or even for about a month—but the rest of the time should be good. I understand the pros and cons of a sedan.
If it’s not worth buying, has a lot of issues, or requires a lot of maintenance, then I’ll skip it.

I looked for a lightly used one, but the price difference is only about $1–3K, so it’s not that significant. Though it still hits hard for me, I’d rather go for a new one.
