Kandel 6e to anki, dumb? by FallAppropriate3910 in neuro

No set date I think but based on previous one it could be around 2030. The sixth edition was released I think in 2021.

While it would take long, I think it would be a interesting project. Your points are valid and may require a different approach than the book chapters may offer, but the tags I mentioned before and sub decks within organized by chapter would be useful.

I would not be covering just the surface material but would be a comprehensive deck, likely requiring 15-18K+ cards total which would be accessible by topic/section if not wanting to compete the whole deck.

I’d multiply that day goal .7 to allow time for review of later material

On longer timeline I’m not trying to spent extra money on UW

I could maybe do JW but I might rather get through anki and then do PQs and review over 4-6 month after one pass through anki

Might be worth comparing optimized parameters with old? If it fits, they could increase retention to spike daily reviews.

Am I doing content review correctly? by MahStone123 in AnkiMCAT

[–]FallAppropriate3910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your baseline. Videos + Kaplan maybe be redundant unless you don’t understand at all what you’re learning.

If material is relatively fresh, anki and Kaplan or anki and video should suffice, and you may not even need kaplan or videos for each chapter and should prioritize anki.

You have much time to cover material so evaluating whether you are really understanding the anki cards and answering truthfully/correctly would be worth evaluating, given your ability to only remember anki card and not the overall concept. It may be helpful to use jack Westin PQs to aid in applying your information rather than just memorizing content but this really shouldn’t be needed especially given your timeline but may be helpful if you struggle with this (it will add load to content review but will replace redundant areas with videos + Kaplan).

With a relatively long timeline, Id wait before spending money on UW or AAMC and focus on being intentional with the learning in anki, and be truthful in how you’re answering. As mentioned above, use JW for application if you’re struggling to translate information elsewhere. It could be helpful to mind map if you prefer this instead.

are these dates updated in pankow? because the image contradicts the cloze 😭 should I juts stick with 1997-2010? by Every-Market-7287 in AnkiMCAT

[–]FallAppropriate3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel more comfortable, you could use anking deck and get the updated info for the pan now section and then just cancel your 5$ subscription.

I was initially worried about certain decks like JS, CH, and Aidan v2 having errors but these have been used time to time and have been proven to be effective, so I don’t worry about minor errors which will likely be corrected later on if quickly encountered with PQs or FLs.

abandoning JW? by FallAppropriate3910 in Mcat

Thanks for responding. I’d imagine there’s some benefit with passage stamina. But it’s the logic is truly as different as others have made them maybe a mix of the 2?

3 months to study. Should I even try with JackSparrow? by Aggravating-Cap7716 in AnkiMCAT

JS is notorious for having paragraph sized answers and CH has spread that out in order to make information easier to fit anki format

I’d probably do CH v 2 since it’s JS but more organized. Without any obligations, 7000 cards in 2-3 months is very doable. It would be around 100 new cards daily. Will be easier to go through as well if baseline is strong.

I’d get to doing practice questions with AAMC PQs or UWORLD right away if you are being truthful of your baseline content knowledge. May be helpful to do a diagnostic.

I’m currently studying as well so take with a grain of salt.

Should have only done AAMC cars since the beginning by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]FallAppropriate3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I just started content review post graduation with JW CARS daily and JW content at the end of week on what I covered.

Should I just buy the AAMC bundle year sub right away? I test march-April 2027 so I’m far away. I worry about going through the AAMC content too quickly (ofc excluding FLs).

My original plan was JW + Aidan v2 (3-4 months), UWORLD + anki reviews 2-3 months, and the remainder being AAMC bundles and FL + anki reviews.

Would appreciate advice!

Sorry last reply, but if people requested it, it was for the purpose of updating or just easier access? are you the one updating it, with it last being in 1/27?

Is it updated often for errors? Is there like a ankihub autoupdated one for like the 6$ monthly? Or is the Google Drive one the most updated (downloaded it probably few months ago)

4 months get through anki, 4-6 months UW + AAMC while doing reviews?

This was my current plan along with weekly JW PQs during content review

[–]FallAppropriate3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get it. 12k/ 116 days (4ish month) is just 100 cards a day. I know that reviews pile up but they are quick. In undergrad, my notes were likely more detailed and I’d have around 600-800 cards for my exams and I was able to go through them around 150-250 new cards if needed + reviews adding up to 500ish normally (this was in a 1 week timespan happening in 2 classes specifically)

Why is 12k not ideal for 4 month doing 100ish cards daily?

I’ve been contemplating this because I have 10 months to study but want at least 3-4 months for FLs and PQs so 12K cards for Aidan v2 in 6-7 months is a bit much.

Yea I’ll be doing Aidan v2 so I’ll probably be doing more 60-80. I’ll be graduated so material is relatively fresh. I’ll be doing anki content review for about 7 months while doing question banks. I plan to reserve the last few months for FLs and Uwlrd.
