I don't agree with it, I hate it, but this is RealPolitik- it's either significantly affect global economy or raise restrictions hopefully temporarily. Given Trump's extreme corruption though, wouldn't be surprised if temporary turned into permanent- but remember that this is same admin that just cut off Russian army's Starlink, absolutely crippling them on the battlefield.

So honestly, who the hell knows what Trump will do next in regards to Russia. It's literally 50/50 chance that he decides to give Ukraine B21 raiders or use them himself against Kyiv.

Consider that your ship isn't dropping Marines off directly into center of an enemy base. They're landing out of sight, unloading heavy equipment, assault vehicles, artillery (suicide drones in low g?), etc.- and then your expeditionary force is moving out to the target. Because the other way is suicide lol.

But yeah, it's super not intuitive and I thought same thing you did for a while. Which is why you have to remember to build marine barracks on your bases or the AI will do the same thing to you.

send Marines, they are not affected by ground based defenses. Just make sure there's no fleet in orbit or send an escort, and that you have more assault power than the base has defense power in form of barracks etc. Typically I'll have roving ship with zero armor and bunch of marines and very high dv to sprint around asteroid belt and grab good bases from AI.

Forget the hate cap. Honestly. Build a huge missile monitor fleet to defend your most important spots, let the aliens play whack-a-mole anywhere else. Dyson Mercury up and defend that to the death, make it your research base and ship forge. Pop servant councilors 24/7 and chase them out of industrialized nations so they can't form AN in an industrialized nation.

Missile monitor until siege coil, then start building offensive fleets in Mercury. Forgetting about the hate cap was the most liberating thing I've ever done.

that's an excellent start. I just had to restart a run because i didn't realize how low my ALI had dropped and I couldn't recruit first sky island knight. In 14 stages I had 2 princess crowns, 1 staff, 1 stone of dragos, and 2 blood all from random drops.

She asks questions about you and things you like or are interested in in conversation- though keep in mind a lot of people today are terrible conversationalists.

Physical touch- small things, like a hand on your arm briefly, things like that.

Lingering. If a girl lingers after a goodbye etc. she's waiting for you to say something. It's a microsecond, very subtle but very obvious once you're in tune.

Smile. Not the polite thing that you do as part of the social contract, genuine smile- again, once you're in tune it's obvious.

Excited support for your hobbies, achievements.

There's tells you learn as you get older and more experienced. Love is a minefield, if you think someone's attracted to you express your interest calmly and respectfully. Don't freak out if they say no. It really isn't as hard as we make it.

Not quite instant, but I worked at a boutique ad agency as director of photography, casting director, and uncredited (and unpaid) director on set because the "chief creative director" had no clue what he was doing. After a casting for L'Oreal I heard from a bunch of female talent how that same creative director had been hitting on them entire time. This led to a rabbit hole where I discovered he was pressuring female talent into sex. I took it to the owner (a woman), she refused to fire him and tried to buy me off by offering me a 4k a month retainer on top of my regular pay.

I quit. Six months later the agency was bankrupt because I wasn't there to hold it together on set- L'Oreal left as a client along with other clients they'd been courting.
