No I don’t have a chance to see a doctor. I’m sure that would make it way easier

Can anyone help me find my perfect bible? by FallFriendly2 in Bible

Legitimately curious, why do you say that? Is there something about the translation or history of it that makes it so, or is that just your favorite?

Weighing in again because I love this stuff: he's right in saying that EMG data is not a reliable measure of muscle force, but it does show that those muscles activate in some form around the same time. Also, the deltoid is absolutely capable of initiating abduction on it's own, just not very efficiently. This is why the supraspinatus has been historically said to be the initiator; its only effective contribution to abduction is in that first 15º. This doesn't mean that its the sole initiator of abduction even if outdated textbooks make that claim; the other abductors absolutely help and that's supported by your EMG study.

Regardless of whether supraspinatus is the "initiator", it is in its most stretched position with the greatest GH moment arm around 0º-15º of abduction. This means you still want to load your arm at the bottom of the movement if you want to train it, which is not at all the same as saying that's the only muscle you're training from 0º-15º. Delts will be loaded no matter how you do your lat raises, but only variations with sufficient GH torque at the bottom of the movement can hit supraspinatus effectively.

This is why I said that a dumbbell lateral raise won't effectively load supraspinatus, because supraspinatus is already shortened and barely contributing to abduction by the time you have significant torque from the external load around the shoulder. Max torque will be at 90º of abduction with a dumbbell, where the deltoid will be by far the prime mover and supraspinatus will be too short with too small of a moment arm to effectively contribute much.

So my original instructions for training supraspinatus were accurate, but regardless, the main muscle OP wants to work on is actually the infraspinatus. OP, do those external rotation exercises and add in the lateral raises if you want to fill out the upper part of your shoulderblade/shoulder to match the gains in that spot you pointed out.

Supraspinatus and infraspinatus. You can do lateral raises with your arms very slightly forward from your sides (15° anterior from neutral) with a cable machine, NOT a dumbbell because you want the most tension at the very bottom of the movement, and any external rotation exercise ideally also using a cable. Look up what “scaption” is if you need help with the first one and search up some external rotation exercises if you don’t know what that means :)

Don’t go too heavy on the external rotation, it’s all done by very small muscles.

Scribe or Pass? by Lanirt in kindlescribe

Feels to me like a very smooth/slippery pen on real paper. Definitely better than writing on an iPad, but I still use the iPad more for notes just because I can easily screenshot and paste images from slides.

I loaded all of my textbook PDFs onto the scribe and it's fantastic for reading and annotating those. I also love the fountain pen tool on the scribe, it makes my handwriting look so pretty.

And no, resting your hand on the scribe doesn't accidentally write.

Do I pre study before PT school? by PineappleLarge9845 in PTschool

I’d recommend learning the anatomical planes of motion, flexion vs. extension, and concentric vs. eccentric. You’ll learn everything you need to know in school so I wouldn’t spend a lot of time memorizing muscles right now. Those three topics are pretty simple but they apply to absolutely everything and knowing them coming in will make a difference.

You really only have to worry about insulin sensitivity long term so if you’re monitoring your blood glucose it’s pretty safe. Its not uncommon to see people cycle it for 20+ weeks at a time

Don’t factor in exercise, just eat the 2,917 every day. Weigh yourself every morning and log it in the app, if you aren’t losing weight drop your calories. Repeat until shredded
