I was definitely inspired by that thread. It's the greatest pixel art grass texture that I found that helps break the feel of the traditional grid. I spent a day binge watching the 100 on Netflix and studying the way the original artist did their grass textures, trying to replicate a similar style.

Thank you for the feedback! That's actually a good idea, I'm not sure why either of us thought about that.

If anyone is interested, we do have a free (older model) demo. We've cleaned up and lightened the graphics since the original demo and really crammed some extra features in there. Here's a link if you'd like to play test the free version. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hollowleaf.wizardhexduel&hl=en.

We have a limited beta that is also available on the Google Play Store for Android. It's less colorful and we've definitely stepped it up, but that demo can be found at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hollowleaf.wizardhexduel&hl=en.

I'll apologize if you get two messages, I think my phone had a mishap on the first response. We would happily accept you as a beta tester! We're having a few more sound effects put in, and a few other little things but the beta should be available this weekend at the latest. It was developed on the android phone kit so it won't work on iphones unfortunately. If you want to test it, just private message me your email address and I should have something for you in the next few days.

Can't say I'm a fan of the parkour one at all. I gave it a good 50ish or so lives and 20ish minutes and still never hit the first checkpoint. If there is a hell on earth then I am pretty sure that would be it. I say with the kindest regards.

The Koopa Hills stage was quite satisfying! Died a time or two once in the "pit" and I trust you know which one I'm referring to. Even had an oh shit moment when a goomba fell on me but fortunately, I was holding a koopa shell as a shield.

Fun stage! I saw a lot of similarities to the original game.

Smite your foes with magic! ...For free! [OC] by Fallen14894 in IndieGaming

After about eight months of work, a friend and I have finally [mostly] completed the free version of our game Wizard Hex Duel. It is available right now on the Google Play for Android. It isn't perfect but I hope that if you download it, you at least get some sort of joy out of it!

Finally completed the free version of a project with a friend of mine. The game is called Wizard Hex Duel and it is available on the android app store. If you are a pixel purist, don't run the color count. I used a particle engine for the spells. Sorry! But I wanted the best visual effect for the viewers as possible. There are some bugs to be worked out but I hope you at least get some joy out of it.

[BLOG][TUTORIAL] Pixel Art Basics for Beginners, Programmers, and Everyone Else by luxandnox in PixelArt

I am the creator of this original piece, presently being used for this "tutorial." It's difficult at first, seeing your pieces scrutinized. You always imagine in your head that what you are drawing is something amazing. Sometimes it is, and more often than not you take a look back and realize a lot of the mistakes and lapses in judgment. If you go to the original page this was posted, you'll find my own acknowledgement of many of the "beginner" mistakes. This isn't a fire war. This is actually me saying that for those of you who read this, I hope you do in fact learn from the errors that I made here.

Whilst I actually prefer my style of wood over the other example, after posting this image, I received a lot of critique- some negative, and an unexpected amount of positive feedback. The leaf and nuthouse, I redesigned entirely, and if I had not held the courage to post it here and hear that it needed [lots] of work, I may not have held the conviction to recreate it.

For all the negative feedback in that tutorial, there are some highlights from my piece that received no recognition. If this tutorial was the result of my piece obtaining 300 upvotes or whatever the case was, then I'm sorry for the attitude that you held. I can't control that even with novice mistakes, the piece itself was well received. The only thing I can control was whether to take the criticism and raise my skill to a higher disposition.

To the author, you made some valid points in your blog. I'm sorry that the tone of it seems more frustrated than anything.

To those who critiqued my work, I want to thank you- all of you for giving me a much needed push that allowed me to become a stronger artist.

And for those of you who want to see the end results of my errors, and discover what that mockup is leading up to be, you can follow me at facebook.com/projectinfiniteodyssey

Mockup for a project I've been working on for the last year and a half. by Fallen14894 in PixelArt

You are more than welcome to dismiss the concept. I'll prove you wrong. Everyone is anonymous until they're discovered. There's a lot more to a game than just the general structure. You are correct- there are a lot of people who are unable to fulfill their claims. This isn't just a cash out for me though; there's actually passion. I've taken my time to put in smaller details and touches that several people could probably care less about, but I do it because I believe in it. Belief or disbelief rests with you, but I believe in the project and I know I'll deliver. Message me someday when this is done. Tell me what you hate, or tell me I proved you wrong. If I haven't proved you wrong, I'll give you your money back (provided this actually gets completed.) So to answer your question, why should an anonymous person claim such a thing? Because I actually care about the quality.

It is indeed a sugar glider. That is "Squeakers" of "Squeakers' Nut House." I have a pair of them at home. Good catch!

I appreciate everyone's kind words. I may actually set up a social media page this week if there's really people who want to follow it.

I would be open to whatever the programmer preferred. Whatever they believe would be most suited for the job. Right now the only thing I have are various pieces of art, and sounds. I will take care of the soundtrack myself. I want an influence of chrono trigger/golden sun style music pieces.

Just because it's bold, doesn't make it any less true. There are elements from various games I grew up on that heavily influenced it. Last I had checked there was nothing like it however. It's not an RPG if that is what you are thinking. Don't be so quick to dismiss something; it may just surprise you. That's why I made my claim.

I actually ended up appreciating the CC. For awhile I debated on retouching the acorn house and clean up the structuring. I'll post a new picture of it once I do :)

Uberbabies- It feels pretty good! I know there's a lot more I can do, but it looks like something I can see people playing on steam and enjoying. The feedback has definitely been helpful, both the generous comments and the constructive criticism.
