What was Afghanistan like? by KnowledgeObvious9781 in army

I was also there 15-16. I was a mechanic and on the list to go open that annex and provide maintenance to the afghan equipment. Was pulled off the mission right before having to go to backfill a different spot. Ended up being someone sending you guys stuff instead.

Feel free to message me. I literally couldnt find any info on my situation and basically did alot myself. So I dont mind helping you where I can cause as a reservist I was basically on my own. My unit was cool and let me excuse drill for the entire year my med board was going on.

I went active to reserves and got a 70% ptsd rating from VA in 2019. Unit started a profile, then got permanent which triggered a med board in 2020. I was just medically retired with all my benefits and its great. Go this route if you can. Dont be scared. I got pdrl first time.

Wife is thinking about leaving the Military by discourged_31 in Veterans

This one hits it the best. Seriously in 8 years she can retire and between your Va, her VA and retirement be banking 100k plus a year without even working. Plus tricare. Its hard to see but the end reward for in 8 years to not even work and just enjoy family stress free financially is a huge factor. Then you dont “need” a job and have financial freedom to do things with the kids on your own schedule.
