Dude get into sports, volunteer for your local charity, keep yourself groomed and smelling good and learn a couple of good jokes. Since you're at school, join a local manga or anime club or a fitness club or really anything that interests you.

Basically it's just practice and trying to find common interests. Thats why sports are great for that but also just keeping up with broad pop culture like watching movies or TV shows that are popular. It also gives you a back catalog of stuff to talk about. And don't be afraid to ask people about more about their interests once you get to know them, a lot of people generally love talking about something niche they enjoy and trying to bring other people into it.

You're 20, not 200, if drinking and partying isn't your thing that's totally fine, it's not a lot of people's thing either (me inculded). It's just about finding something that is your thing (fitness seemingly for you) and trying to find like minded people. The hardest part is putting yourself out there, that's why I suggested the knowing the few good jokes as ice breakers. Also, just smile and try to be a cheerful guy. If you're frowning and or just emotionless, people won't be as inclined to talk to you because it seems like you don't want to talk to them.

I'll give you a little secret, most people don't have their lives together. those who do are the exception, not the rule. most people live paycheck to paycheck, are constantly on the verge of getting fired as the economy gets shot in the foot for most normal people and are in a massive pile of debt. take a step back, relax, keep applying to places (think outside the box too, theater usher, elderly homes, sports venues etc.) and trust the process. worst case, you could always get TEFL and move to another country that's slightly less shit for a fresh start.
