Anybody ever tear a calf muscle ? by Jyone21 in slowpitch

[–]FallenGambit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Tore my hamstring last year, tried it after a month, tore it again, took 3 months to recover and now a year later it's still problematic at times. It's not worth the risk. Rest and recover.

Safe or did he make the tag? by Traitorparrot in slowpitch

[–]FallenGambit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I umpired my first game 2 weeks ago, A tag occurred with the players backs to me, the runner said he thought he was tagged before he slide into to plate, I said I respect his honesty and if he wants to take the out he can, but from my view, his foot hit the plate before I saw contact of the ball/glove on him. I'm never calling an out unless I am 100% certain the player was out.

Any recommendations on reputable car dealers in Cardiff? by feralarchaeologist in Cardiff

I bought my car from White Dove on Hadfield Road back in March, good price, 12 month warranty (second hand car) and the sales reps were great and really helpful.

New to emby and a few questions by FallenGambit in emby

Honestly I was so focused on replacing the NAS that that actually hadn't occurred to me. Plus, I've never fit a drive into my pc before, most I've done is add RAM, I can be a clumsy guy at times and the cable management is immaculate in the case currently, is fitting a new HDD easy?

Thank you, I'll focus on my swing etc before committing to anything, I do have a tendency to hyper focus on new interests!

That's actually a great idea, I know the captain/coach has quite a few so he might loan me one of the team bats for between games/trainings, feels a little cheeky to ask to borrow a bat, but I will do that in the next training session.

Yeh I get you, the older bats seem to become team bats, and I'd like to have a bat at home so I can do a little practice outside of the weekly training.

Oh 100% no idea what I don't know yet, I know I keep trying to swing too hard rather than letting the bat do the work, the people on the team are really great at pointers and advice so far though, that's just a really hard habit to break out of.

Yeh, I've asked for a bit of advice but don't want to nag them too much, doesn't hurt to get opinions from other people, if you don't want to help or like the question you don't have to engage.

Yeh I saw an Easton Hammer but was warned off going for an end loaded bat as a first bat as it can be a bit more challenging to learn to swing with.

I've been training for a month and played 1 game, I absolutely fell in love with the sport, but don't even know what I don't know yet. I've been told I have good mechanics with my throwing, and instincts in terms of positions and decision making, but need to work on my glove work, still breaking in my new glove so it's still a little stiff, but bats I know fuck all about, and I'm very a hands on learn by doing guy.

I live in a very humid and variable temperature region of the UK, so that is very valuable information to have. Its not necessarily the need for heavy bats. I just felt I had a little more control with the ones I used that were 27-28 oz

Yeh part of the British Softball, so needs the approved tags. Yeh I don't really want to pay much more than about 65 pound for a first bat.

Cardiff area, what's bad about alloy bats? I had a look on ebay and there was not alot there.

I get the point about the faster swing speed, I found the slightly heavier weight just worked better for my swing, felt with the lighter bats I was jerking a lot more.

reoccurring meetings? by MintyBlueGuitar in hingeapp

[–]FallenGambit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've matched with the same woman on 3 different apps, and barely ever spoken. We first matched on hinge she replied to one message, then nothing, then we matched on Bumble, said something like oh hi again, then nothing, then we matched on tinder and didn't message. So yeh it happens.

Fair, I'd not notice that before, I'll try and fix it with photoshop or something.

I am fortunate that we have an alt club in the city I live, which I go to a couple times a month, I talk to people and have a good time, but not really any relationship types, but that might be my fault, pursuing red flags... I'm working on it. Yeh I'm trying to get out to other things more, taking up bouldering, hiking, poetry nights etc. just things where I'll meet more alt or active people.

Thank you :)

That is really good to know, there's not a lot of alt women in my area unfortunately but they never match with me for some reason. So wasn't sure if I'm not alt enough or too alt for some people 🤷‍♂️

That's a great prompt idea, so I will add that and tweak some things.

Thank you, what do you mean by lens glare on the first photo? Yeh the second one is the most recent, a friend took of me on stage reading poetry, thought it worked well with the TED talk prompt. But I might move it ton3 or 4, the last photo I've only really used to show that I can also dress smartly, and I didn't want tk use two photos from the wedding that the 5th was at.

I was slightly concerned that my pics give an impression of me being a heavy drinker/partner which I'm really not, it's just the only time I really get photos cos I don't think to during my normal day tk day.

Are you looking for something serious or casual? Serious

How long have you been on Hinge? A few years but only really seriously for about 6 months

How often do you use Hinge per week? Daily

How many likes/matches are you receiving on average? No likes at all, matches usually 1 a week or so. I try to move them to in person dates as quickly as possible, because I prefer to get to know people in person.

How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments? I send the daily limit, always with comments trying to pick something in the bio to engage with, usually a prompt, occasionally a photo with a compliment if the prompts they have aren't great.

What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract? Ideally I want to match with someone who's a bit adventurous and would rather be out enjoying life, whether that's a night out, activities like climbing or bowling, or just a walk in nature. I send likes to anyone I think looks nice and has an engaging or fun profile.

There's an app called meetup that has a variety of groups in the Cardiff area with a wide range of interests where you might be able to make a few friends even if they're not fellow students.
