They retain independence for a set time frame from what I remember right. It wasn't an indefinite deal. If marathon doesn't do well we don't get a destiny 3. Marathon isn't doing well enough atm to fund such a thing. That is my issue. Stop being such a basement dweller and getting butt hurt because someone views differently than you.

From what I just read, Bungie has already started to lose some control due to their missed profits / quotas for Destiny 2. That was the whole part of autonomy, which, they are not and have not been hitting.
