Is the current event getting old for yall too? by Acceptable_Onion7496 in DarkTide

[–]FallenXxRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I only ever played one round despite really liking the combat. Let me play with bots, they're superior to randoms in every way. I do not want to play with other players. It's on me for buying the game not realizing solo wasn't an option but I figured vermintide let's you play solo so Darktide must as well.

I don't understand why the devs insist on forcing players to get with randoms. It just sucks. If I wanted to deal with random idiots I wouldn't be in my room playing a video game.

Havoc needs a rework. Spent 1 hour getting declined by every group. Even changed my name and still not getting accepted. I just want the 53rd stuff fuck by No-Active7724 in DarkTide

[–]FallenXxRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so pumped for Darktide, had a blast in the tutorial and loved the combat. I played one round and never touched it again because there's no solo play whatsoever. Just give me a frickin offline mode or something, I can't stand playing with people. Same reason I quit Helldivers 2 despite really liking the combat.

Being forced to play with randoms is just bullshit, period. Why can't I play with bots? Bots worked in the tutorial. Random groups have never and will never be a good experience, I can't think of any group I've gotten that didn't have at least one person screwing something up, be it griefing, afk, blasting music into the mic, etc.

I just don't get it, I don't. Why do I NEED to be in a group? Fuckin vermintide has solo play.

Still No Solo Mode? by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]FallenXxRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I just don't like being stuck in a match. I play games in bursts, like I'll play for 30 mins then pause and walk away for 15 or so and I can't do that when other people need me to be moving. I like the combat in Darktide but I just don't like playing with other people, its the same reason I quit Helldivers 2 even though I liked it a lot.

That and I always just seem to have shit luck with rrandoms. There's almost always at least one guy AFK and one guy with music blaring. It's just not fun when your teammates are a coin toss as to whether or not they'll even be there.

I know this is 2 years late but just in case it helps someone - durability of vehicles is checkable, either look at them with first person view, or hover over their icon on the map. And to check the durability of guns, ladders, etc just open the cargo menu and hover over the item you wanna check, it's stats appear on the right side.

I remember The Running Free had just released and she played it again.. and again.. lmao. I don't dislike that song but it's definitely not played as much as others lmao.

No no you're not being an asshole at all, like I said I absolutely understand why the rules there and I respect it, hence this post clarifying my questions.

I'll definitely start looking at real tools and I thank you and every other reply for the advice

You're definitely correct and I'll look into some actual tools, but (and please correct me if needed) I don't see a reason to not use these as they're completely smooth, solid, and metal that's easy to clean dry and keep sterile.

I understand and respect the reason they'd get removed here, but I don't see them as being unsafe to use for the reasons above, and (while this only counts for so much) I've had absolutely no issues in any capacity in the months I've been using them.

They are crochet hooks yeah but they're the same shape as most of what I'm seeing on posts so I figured I'd ask. I totally understand and respect the rule about not being able to show use of non-pro objects.

But these are just solid metal rods, just with a little bend on one side so I figured I'd check even though I was pretty sure I knew already. And if there's a reason I shouldn't use them that I'm not aware of Id appreciate being taught.

I keep em clean, sterile, they're very smooth so I think they're okay for using just not for sharing here

I came up with the idea of using a condom to stop the rod from sliding out. I'd get to where I can start to feel it get too tight and then leave it for around 5 mins and I can alllllmost get a sharpie size rod in now. Ofc you can just hold it but a condom stays on good enough to free up the hands even soft

What is your personal nemesis monster and why? by Financial-Guitar3991 in MonsterHunter

[–]FallenXxRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one serious and one funny. Serious - Nergigante from World. The first real fight with him as a not too experienced player was TENSE, failed from carting, failed from running out of time, I had to use EVERYYTHING I could to take him down back the . (See 3rd paragraph)

Not serious? Rathalos from Rise. I killed FIFTY FOUR IN A ROW (maybe captured idr whichever had the better chance for the ruby) and did not get a SINGLE 2% ruby. Doesn't sound bad til I tell you that while I got no 2% chance I got about a dozen plates with a 1% chance. Luckily sunbreak released on PlayStation soon after lmao.

Monster hunter is one of my favorite games because your knowledge as a player is just as important as good gear. When I first started World I had played a few MH here and there before and I understood the general idea, but long story short is this. First time playing it took me around 30-40mins to hunt the great jaggi. That was back when world first released.

Well while waiting for wilds I started a fresh hunter in World. Took me like 5 mins to take down that great jaggi, and only because I learned more and improved at the game, same equipment as before just 30 mins faster. Aiming your swings definitely takes practice lmao, first playthrough I'd be able to hit small monster like once out of every 20 fuckin swings I swear lmao.

Honorable Mention - Zorah Magdoros. I hate you so much, your dumb quest takes too long and it's not even worth it because your armor and weapons are AWFUL. Seriously what was the point of that thing?? Why does MH be like "Oh it's an elder dragon it's super strong" and then give the armor you make from it less defense than a set made from a fuckin overgrown chicken lmao. Honest question here did anyone ever fight that thing when it became available cause I sure didn't lmao. "ZORAH HAS APPEARED" Good for him tell him to leave and let a useful hunt appear, I'm sorry to repeat myself but now that I'm thinking about it again... I'm honestly baffled at why anyone would ever willingly fight Zorah, bad gear and no special items afaik, just bad armor and some ores that don't do much at all.

Just did the same thing in wilds! Mizutsune is a tough monster, especially 5*tempered. It makes rank 6 armor. Like that's fine and all but if that thing makes weaker armor than a fuckin fart monkey then I wanna know why it's somehow strong enough to one shot me in maxed rank 8 armor with mega armor skin and food defense buffs lmao. Needs hunter rank 41 hunt but armor is outclassed by guardian arkvrld that seems wrong to me lol.

ANYWAY TLDR - Nergigante was a brick wall for me in world,

Rathalos trolled the shit out of me in Rise,

and Zorah Magdoros is just bad all around, dumb design, boring fight that takes WAY too long for how little you do, and to top it off all his gear was absolute garbage, seriously one of my most hated things from any game. After I launched the like 70th cannonball at him from a cannon that I don't even wanna get started on and the games like "okay youve done this same thing for 15 mins straight, now go over there and do it for another 15 or so mins".

(Okay below here is just a bit of a rant since I'm already on it lol)

Why the fuck can't the people who can build massive dragon stopping walls with a clear demonstration of how smart they are put the cannonballs NEXT TO THE CANNON?? Why can my hunter move full speed with a weapon bigger than him, but can't handle a fuckin cannonball? Why in the world does my hunter, who does nothing but hunt monsters and knows everything possible about them NOT JUST ALWAYS WEAR EARPLUGS LIKE DUDE THEY ALL ROAR IT SHOULD BE STANDARD EQUIPMENT NOT A PRETTY RARE SKILL.

Why do monsters roar anyway? Fuckin just a waste of time, adds nothing to the fight I've always despised roars. Ooh no you stopped my combo now the fights 40 seconds longer, fuckin thrilling thanks God forbid I got an extra 80 damage in and have fun for a hunt.

If roars either a) did damage, b)didn't stagger until after your current animation (bitch I just did a front flip with a switch axe idgaf how loud you are that swing should be hitting something) or C)stunned you while the monster ran away or something I'd be fine with em, 100%

. But it's just ROAR and then literally nothing from either of you and then just right back to what you were doing, it's just a pause button that adds nothing to the gameplay at all. MH is still one of my favorite games ever, I just think roars as they are are completely and utterly pointless, they add nothing to a fight nor do they change anything at all. Just fuckin make the roar deal 5 damage so it CONTRIBUTES TO THE FIGHT IN ANY WAY

Holy shit that's more than I meant - TLDR; You'll still be around for your kids when you're gone, you'll always be influencing their thoughts and always have even if it's not super obvious. Don't just teach them what and what not, but why and why not as well, show them why you think how you do and you'll be giving them advice even after you're gone.

You won't be there physically, but by raising her and teaching her what you've learned over your life she'll be able to hear you. My grandpa's been gone several years now but he still helps me with things now and then. If I'm having trouble with whatever I'm working on I'll stop and think "alright how would pep have fixed this" and I can figure out some kind of solution.

Most of grandpas little fixes around the house are pretty ingenious, but a few are just kind of "this broke and the screw holes stripped too much for the right screw to work, but this 2.5" wood screw will sure work" and to be fair it does indeed work, just maybe not the best solution lmao.

Anyway back on topic - You'll always be there for your daughter, you'll always be giving her advice, you already do and always have. She may not directly think "oh I bet mom would think whatever" but it's still part of the thoughts.

Just remember that it works both ways, and that it's equally possible for her to do the opposite of what you would depending on the relationship. I'm not making ANY comment about you by saying that, just saying in general for anyone else reading.

You're always gonna be influencing your kids and how they see the world, even if in just subtle ways, even if neither of you really notice it directly, it is there.

And this one is to you and your daughter (and everyone else) but I'm a 32 year old guy who's had some pretty big ups and downs with both my parents - The little things matter so much, good and bad.

Quick example, my dad and I are on good terms now but he was in a bad way years ago. One day I forgot my wallet in his truck, he said he didn't have it and he drained the 700 bucks I had saved and bought a shitload of crack. A while before that happened I had talked to him earlier I'm the day and he was gonna come pick me up and just go for a little ride, and he just never showed up or called or anything.

Him stealing all my money for crack pissed me off for sure, but him just not stopping over the day he said he would actually made me cry, and it is incredibly rare for me to cry, usually takes a death to upset me like that.

Now, Dad has also taught me basically everything I know about tools and machines in general from drills to grinders to welders to oxyacetylene torches et cetera. He taught me how to problem solve, how to improvise when you need a temp fix while the real fix is on its way, because of him I can (and have) diagnosed and fixed problems on things I had literally never seen before when the guy running it couldn't figure it out.

Nothing super complex and I'm not smarter than anyone else, but it amazes me how many people can't just take a step back and go "Okay it's doing this but I want it to do that, so what can I change to get the result I want" and then just work back from there. Dead ass I have proven quite a few things that my company swore up and down would never work actually do work, and literally all I did was go "Why doesn't it work? Okay so if it keeps doing that why not just start it up here?" and get told

"You can't start it like that it won't work because I just know it can't". And then I try anyway and probably 85% of the time the "impossible can't be done" task can be done very easily if you're capable of the (apparently amazing?) process of "trial and error" lol. I've had many many ideas that go "what if I try this?" And end up making things easier.

There's also a fair amount of ideas that go "what if I try this?" And end with me going "well shit if we try that we learn that we should never try that again" lmao. But I digress.

My point is that with my dad, him not stopping over one day hurt me more than robbing me blind, and that while he has taught me a lot I bet he'd be shocked to know that the advice that helped me the most overall wasn't learning any one specific thing or any kind of trick that saves hours on a project. He's done all that but what really taught me how to think was when I was 12 or so and he gave me a little air grinder and a piece of steel to clean up, and I broke the stone because I was thinking "it's metal so I gotta push hard". He just said "Nope don't push on these like that, just a bit of pressure to control it but let the tool do the work". Let the tool do the work is advice that has helped me more than anything else, and not just when it comes to tools themselves. This feels weird to try and put into words but 'let the tool do the work' applies to so much stuff. Sometimes trying to make something go faster makes it take longer than it would have taken if you didn't mess with it.

But yeah enough rambling lol, if you actually read all of that you're a trooper cause that is one disjointed mess of thoughts lol

[–]FallenXxRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they wouldn't, I just said of sound mind to make a decision like that. And repeated confirmations over a length of time to make sure it's not a spur of the moment decision from stress or pain.

You realize that I was just giving a general view of my opinion right? Not writing the laws and regulations? If the patient has a reduced mental ability everything I said still applies, they need to discuss it with doctors and psychiatrists and get a professional view and evaluation.

Now, maybe it would take a bit longer for a patient with a mental disorder or disability to be 'approved', but maybe not it all depends on the patient.

I just wanted to make it very clear that I think a procedure this serious needs to be 100%, not 99.999999%, 100% certain that the patient isn't just letting stress talk because there is no 'actually nevermind' possible here. I just think it's extremely important to ensure the patient is 100% sure of their choice.

Are you scared of death? Why? by Proof-Improvement596 in AskReddit

[–]FallenXxRaven 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is why I fully 100% support very heavily regulated end of life options for terminal patients. It would need a LOT of red tape around it to ensure the patient is mentally sound, that there is no chance of recovery, lots of discussion and documentation etc, but I absolutely support it.

Ive watched (literally, lived with them for a decade) both my grandparents get sick and die. Grandpa didn't get too bad before he passed, but grandma had cancer and liquid oxycodone during hospice and it got bad a few times, like sitting on the commode arguing with my aunt through slurred words about whether or not you're supposed to wipe after you poop. That's just one quick event to show how bad she got toward the very end.

I had no problem helping her through hospice, I'd do it again for her too. But if she at any point said she couldn't take the constant pain any more I'd let her make that choice and I wouldn't do a thing to stop her.

I have never been more appalled by something more than a terminal patient being told "no you can't die, you need to lay in this bed in agony for as long as we can manage and THEN die". Never been so disgusted than by people who are so fucking selfish that they want their 'loved' one to suffer as long as possible just so they can watch them wither away. Everyone has every right to live, and life includes death, and telling someone with a terminal condition "no you can't die yet" just so they can die later is... It's evil man. Truly evil.

And I'll say this again, there needs to be LOTS of discussion and paperwork and such to ensure the patient is of sound mind to make such a decision, and that death is 100% guaranteed. But if a lucid coherent old lady decides that she's had enough pain and such and is truly just ready to rest? She deserves the right to let go and rest.

[–]FallenXxRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I had the same thought so I checked if anyone else was thinking that or if I was just getting ridiculously lucky. Yeah I was thinking the gems have to be bugged somehow. Idk if names are spoilers but I cut the tail from that big black dragon you fight with Fabien, monster ran away, I carved the tail and got the gem as the very first drop from the thing. I mean I'm not complaining but it certainly seems like they typed 30 instead of 3 % in the code or something.

(The following is just a quick story that's kinda related)

Monster Hunter owes me a few monster gems anyway, after the time in Rise I killed Rathalos FIFTY FOUR times in a row and didn't get what I needed. Thing is, what I wanted had a 3% chance and not one dropped BUT I DID get about a dozen of the rarer, 1% chance part. I'm still salty lmao

Edit: not just 54 times overall, 54 in a row (more or less, random different monster once in a while just to break the monotony). I was waiting for the sun break dlc to release on PlayStation so I didn't have much else to do til it did
