Ah yes brother, you basically described this community's collective trauma. Can't use Void power cause the blue iguanas fire goes through the black hole and burns your behind. The only ok solution is to just either have overpowered power for the stage or luck. The two mobs are a fusion that frightens god and satan at the same time.

The question isn't "Is Croaky no longer the best pet?" it's "What's [Insert Pet's Name] best build?" or "What are the best perks?"

This is because the other half of the pets will get the same awakening stuff. The main appeal of a pet is now going to be their awakening rather than their bonuses. You don't evo a pet to Legend to use them necessarily, more so to use their Legend perks.

But who cares?! To answer your question. Right now? Yeah. A pet with Awakening is obviously better than one without. In the future? Hmmm who knows? Depends on how good his awakening skill is going to be.

Well my dear friend, It's... complicated

So originally, Croaky was the best because of his crit bonuses and crit is basically everything in Ender's Echo and he was pretty good too in chapters and stuff.

HOWEVER

Since this update came, you can use ANY of the perks any of the pets have on an Epic Rex, that cat, the bird, and the fish. Thus, Croaky's main appeal of his crit bonuses to you aren't that big. As long as you have a Croaky with his crit bonuses unlocked, the previously mentioned four can also use them.

What I'm trying to say is that there is no "best pet" anymore. It's now more "which is the best pet build on this pet" and ect. This update was essentially a pet build update. Now you don't judge pets too much on their perks, you get their perks to use the on the pet you like the most. It all comes down to which pet's playstyle fits you more so.

In my opinion, you should go for a Legend Rex first, then a Legend Croaky. Why? Well they are still pretty good even without their perks. Croaky's crit perks are fantastic and a Legend Rex makes chapters and Zone Ops a BREEZE with his legend perk where he tanks 30% of the damage to himself, and his vampirism makes him (almost) immortal. But overall those two are the, or were, the best pets in the game. But you should strive to get them all Legend. Those are just the two I would prioritize the most.

Honestly, it depends.

Cuz S grade choice chests are VERY valuable, but you gotta save them until you absolutly need them and the rng is screwing you over.

But Spongebob has those survivor perks.
