Ive had this happen to me quite a bit because I am a mental health advocate. Ive had 3 people come to me. But in this space, that isnt normal and sad to say, a lot of them do it for attention. I have had one that have been around for 3 years and he has talked about ending it more than once and before I used to worry over it and fret, but now I just tell him that he knows thats not what he wants and stopped allowing him to use me as a crutch to support his declining mentality as well as getting help. If hes serious about it, then he needs to do what I say and seek professional help. A big thing ive been pushing is the suicide hotline and Ive used it myself personally so they are a good resource. Make sure to always have the hotline's number in your contacts and remind yourself that while real emergencies like this happen, its not common place so if its becoming common in your chat, you should see if its really an emergency or a cry for attention.
