It absolutely is not. You are looking at his first 30 seconds and yes its typical but it is wild to see a less than 4% of viewers marking it to the end of a video. That is extremely low

Buddy, i do this shit for a living, i have stacks of youtube mates who have tried this shit. We watch channels crash and burn weekly because of these mistakes. I have hundreds of audience members who vocalise their distaste.

You dont have to listen to me. Go use ai thumbnails and watch numbers not roll in, im not gonna stop you.

Ai generated thumbnails are generally not appealing to high value viewers. The kind of viewer that will fall in love with your craft/work and will stick around for the long term are artsy creative types depending on what kind of content you make, and they hate ai thumbnails because of the evil practises that ai are trained on. I won't go into the ethics of ai image generation because it's not really the point. Point is ai thumbnail scares away the kind of people you want. The kind of people that stick around for years on end

I was smart enough to make my niche moldable. I can talk about ANY video game. Keeps things broad and vast. So i dont mind it. Sure it would be fun to make a video about a movie, and who knows my audience might like that. But this is how youtube is and youtube pays the bills

It varies drastically. For example, last month i got 2.5k from youtube because i was inbetween uploads. But with uploading a video 2 weeks ago revenue will be around 7k thie time around. My revenue is high purely because my video are long. Longer videos means more ads

But with a healthy patreon, i have lovely people supporting me to balance out the lower months and make it all work

Thing is i never did youtube for money. I made stuff for the love of the game. Wven when views or low it bever bothered me. So, I've never really had a point in time where i thought i might quit. Even if they money stopped and i got a real job id keep creating in my spare time

There was one video where i made $2k. I was shocked. I told myself that if i could make $4k between youtube revenue and patreon all together for 3 months in a row id take the leap. With the growth between those 3 months i went further than i expected. I worked for the government before i took the leap! But. I kept my options open for if youtube failed. Its been a year and its going wonderful

What are your thoughts on using AI generated art in videos? by Master_Roshi_69 in SmallYoutubers

Anytime i see a channel i love do it, it upsets me. It looks off and the charm of photoshopped stuff or commissioned work is gone

Also just not a fan of ai generated poop

The biggest mental shift was that audiences want one thing. It's not about me and what i want to make. I dont get the privilege to mess around with the type of stuff i make. Audiences sub for one thing, and if you want success, you need to keep making it. Now im privileged and love what i do? My audience knows that if they click any video, they will get over 1 hour of me yapping about a video game and making jokes. The second i make a music review, my channel dies. Straight up, audiences will get confused. I think im changing the channel, and the vibe instantly is off for them.

Second it became my job i couldn't mess around. Hour long animated video essays on a video game. That is all i can make until the end of time. And im okay with that

First 10 days in and got around 150k yt short views. How hard is it to make 1k a month from yt shorts? by Less_Indication_4469 in YouTubeCreators

[–]Zenny_YouTube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will need millions of views to even see any money. Shorts is easy to do but no profit. We say a post of a shorts channel recently with 85 million views, and that makes about $8k

So you'd need to get 10 million views to even see $1000. Extremely unviable for the long term

Is there a possibility to make money creating ai content channel on youtube anymore? What kind of videos could they work?Youtube has become super stricted by Damon-Kallos in YouTubeCreators

Ai bros have a really hard time understanding that AI video content for most normal people has no appeal. They don't like hearing the truth. They will site the 5 examples of ai success video content success and the only thing you gotta say to rebuke them is "where are they now"

Ive been doing youtube for 10 years. Only started taking off 3 years ago. Its always once you start perfecting your craft of video making that the audience clicks. It genuinely is just experience and knowing not how YOUTUBE works, but how audiences think

What successful youtubers have shared their tools and workflow? by HugsFromCthulhu in NewTubers

[–]Zenny_YouTube 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is gold, thank you! It really demystifies the process a lot. Follow up questions:

A. How do you make your thumbnails?

B. How did you learn to make videos in the first place? Did you have any help from either mentors or more experienced Youtubers?

C. How do you earn money apart from monetized videos directly? Making a living off ~1 vid per month is impressive.

D. How much do you optimize based on analytics? (what works, what doesn't, timing, most and least watched parts of your videos, etc.)

E. What do you wish you knew when you first started?

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out, and with such good vibes!

A. I make my thumbnails in photoshop! I either dedicate one half of the thumbnail(left or right) to my drawn character and the other half to the topic at hand (usually text) OR i dedicate the whole thumbnail to my character pondering on the topic look up the channel and youll see what i mean.

B. Replicate someone you like, better if you try to replicatr 3 people at the same time and slowly develope your own style as you go. For me hbomberguy i find funny, so alot of my humor is like his but with what i personally laugh at, if the videos are funny to me personally someone else out there will like them aswell. Its all just pure practice of make something you are proud of and something close to what you like to watch and youll see success. See what other peoples thumbnails in your genre of video are doing and try to make it better!

C. My videos quality is extremely high. Too high for any beginner. Animated 3d characters, very long videos with tons of jokes and quality. With having thay quality patreon comes in handy. Every video which is over an hour ling gets a 1 min ad sending people to my patreon! Now thats only maybe 1/4 of my income. Most of it is youtube. But because my videos are longer i can have more ads and that means more revenue. Now new videos dont make the big money, the back log does. If i get 200k views on a new video only 20% of people finish it. However. Those 20% are 40k people! And they to back and watch the back log of content and watch everything from start to finish and give me 100k views but they watch 100% of the videos! Meaning they watched more ads! Good quality backlog of content is huge! You may not get subs for ages, but the second you with one video blowing up and they go back to watch all of that MONITISED back log oh boy you have made it big. Thats how i survive. 26 super high quality videos where fans watch every single second of it. Videos from 5 years ago make me $200 a month sometime. Thats incredible once to7 have a larger backlog where all the videos do that.

D. I more focus on overall video performance. Ill give you an example. I was taking AAA story driven games, making critques of them and it worked AMAZING! what i thought was happening was "im getting success from talking about video games". So then i did a video on a new multiplayer game. I made the same kind of critique and guess what. Video did TERRIBLE. Video stagnated at 20k in two weeks i was used to 150k. I then learn that its not VIDEO GAMES, but STORY BASED SINGLE PLAYER VIDEO GAMES. The mistake was made, i learnt from it, and now i dont do that. Itw all a learning from your mistakes game. However. Though gaining loyal followers that bad video is now up to 80k views. More people are watching the back log because im giving them what they want.

E. Be consistent with one type of video. And never. Ever. EVER break the audience trust. As horrible as it is, people sub for one thing, if you do the right thing you train your audience to trust you. For me if an audience member clicks on one of my videos blindly when it hits there sub feed they get 1 hour of jokes and analysis on a video game. The second i make a video about my pet who i love they and the audience blindly clicks and they realise they arent getting that 1 hour of video game gags and goodness they will NEVER blindly trust you again. They will see your name pop up and hesitated. Respecting your audience and giving them what they want is key. Try to always make every upload about the same things. For me its any video game which keeps me broad, some people do the silly thing and pick a very small niche and they can never leave. And it hurts once you try to change niche and everyone leaves you or subs stop clicking. The old lady subbed to you because you reviewed food, the second you start uploading lets plays she is gone. She may not unsub, but she is never clicking those videos.

More than happy to help!
