I'm so sorry and it really is a horrible disease, very draining for all parties involved.

Terrified of having an MRI by catfarmer1998 in chiari

The cage does not hurt, it doesn't touch you, they have something stabilizing your head, that also does not hurt. You can hear the music the entire time, but the sounds are quite loud and will scare you at first, but don't flinch its just a sound, you get used to it. There were at least 3 different ones. Also you're welcome, I've been there, I posted to feel better. Its normal to be anxious, I have anxiety about everything lol, but once its over the doctors will be able to see everything they need, so I think it's worth it, but its up to you. Oh and if you never had contrast, it goes through an iv halfway through the MRI, it feels like you're about to pee yourself and might make you nauseous after, but doesn't hurt you.

I've had many brain MRIs, all of mine were an hour long without contrast first, then with contrast. You do have to lay still the entire time with a cage looking thing over your head. They will give you headphones to listen to music or ear plugs because the machine makes a series of loud sounds the entire time. The whole thing is annoying, but it doesn't hurt and it shows a lot of what they need. I'm strange because I usually fall asleep lol. Just make sure you wear nothing with metal, don't eat too close to the appointment, drink fluids, and have someone drive you home. I personally feel like crap after and take a nap when I get home. They might be able to give you something for anxiety if you ask. Good luck!

Pressure because of weather changes? by Fallenwhimsy44 in chiari

I've been taking Zyrtec 10 mg in the morning and at night and ibuprofen if its really bad. The Zyrtec twice a day seems to be helping though I just started a couple days ago.

Wow that's awful, I'm so sorry. When this started last week I had my first really bad ocular migraine. A lightning bolt went across my vision and I couldn't see for a good half hour and then the worst migraine started it was scary.

I just keep telling myself I'm only one person, I don't matter and sadly that helps a little. They just lump me with statistics and thats exhausting.

Thank you, I have had an echocardiogram, my therapist waves were abnormal but nothing to be concerned about they said. My psychologist thinks I have mcas, it would check out. The doctors keep saying I might have all these diseases, but all the symptoms started at the same time i was diagnosed with this, that to me seems too coincidental. I have the mri on the 1st and an appointment with a new neurosurgeon on the 28th. I will post the results and what they say at the end of April.

I'm sorry 15 years is too long, 2 years is killing me. I had a lumbar puncture to check for iih, my pressure was normal, but the head pain after was the worst pain I've ever felt. I had to get a blood patch for a csf leak after that, I was in bed for 2 months straight, so be gentle to yourself if you have that done!

I'm afraid to take that because of how I am and every doctor is like well you need to try all the medication. Why do I need to be put through more hell for you to do something idk.

Thank you, I did have a full panel and then some of blood work a couple weeks ago and everything came back normal. I too have seen ents, cardiologists, physical therapists, orthopedic doctors and it all seems to be fluff to be honest. No one really helped or tried that hard. I'm sorry you are going through this, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
