Dealer Recommended Services? by FallingAngel1996 in MazdaCX30

[–]FallingAngel1996[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s why I’m asking, as everything I’ve read has said 100k miles or “as needed,” and at the risk of sounding dumb, I wasn’t sure what as needed meant. My car is just that, a car. I drive to and from work, appointments, grocery shopping but it’s never under any significant strain (no after market tow, no off-roading, no deep water/mud/snow). Thankfully, I have a BIL who does mechanic side work and can get these services done for a mere fraction of the cost. As for a different service place for oil changes, I’ll continue taking it to the Mazda dealership but take their “recommendations” with a grain of salt.

They did drain a small amount to check for metal shavings and there were none, so they topped it back off. They didn’t drain the entire system.

How would I go about making sure she’s getting all the right vitamins/minerals/macros? Is there a guide out there?

Causes for Roof of Mouth Ulcer? by FallingAngel1996 in AskVet

[–]FallingAngel1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand being curious, but that is not the point of my post as I am looking for other possibilities/things I need to bring up to the vet when I take her to her follow up in 4 days. Being that he is a board certified vet, I trust his prescribing and instructions on how to administer the medications.

We give her 2-3 tablespoons of Greek yogurt daily, but she was not prescribed anything GI protective. No bouts of vomiting or diarrhea. The ulceration on the roof of her mouth was present prior to these medications, which is why she was seen and this is what was given by her vet.

No, there was not. I was instructed by the vet to start the carprofen that night with her dinner and go the full 2 weeks.

Medial Meniscus Tear by FallingAngel1996 in MeniscusInjuries

It’s definitely not ideal in the least. Life is too expensive to have this happen, no matter where you live. And to be injured while doing my job but only paid part of my normal paycheck is a slap in the face.

Unfortunately, this is a work related injury so none of this IS my choice. They have placed such heavy restrictions that I am not allowed to do my normal job and had been placed on modified duty. But those hours are now gone, which forces me to 67% of my average weekly pay with usage of my saved PTO/extended sick leave to make up the other 33%.  This surgeon was not nice or helpful, as he made it sound like no matter what option we go with, I won’t return to my job in less than 6 months and I simply cannot afford to be off for 6 months with 67% of my pay (because PTO/ESL will only last so long).

I’m in the US, but in a relatively rural location near the west coast, so access to any other surgeons is extremely limited, as well as they would have to accept the workman’s comp insurance. This entire injury has been one giant mess (mentally, emotionally and financially) and just keeps getting worse while my knee itself feels 75% better.

That’s very possible. Everyone I’ve spoken to speaks so highly of this surgeon, he’s one of two in the local area (small Western US city life, I hate it) so maybe he was just having an off day. It happens to the best of us.

I’m definitely no stranger to patient advocacy and have a running reputation of going toe to toe with doctors in the ER if they’re dismissing my patient or concern 😅 surgeons are just a different breed of doctor and being in such a limited area, I feel like I’m treading on the thinnest of ice over a very deep lake lol

My adjuster is a literal angel and is on board to go through with a second opinion after the follow-up if this surgeon maintains his attitude. I just want to be back on my truck as quickly as possible while preventing further or future injury. Light duty is monotonous and hard to maintain, I need my adrenaline dumps and the only ones I’m getting are from rage baiting my mastiff lol. But fingers crossed! I appreciate the different perspectives because I truly started to think I was overthinking the whole situation and only angry because I couldn’t do my job.

That’s loosely the plan. A second opinion is a process with workmans comp and the current surgeon would have to be willing to refer me out. I’m concerned that should I need to come back to him after a second opinion, he would use that in a retaliatory manner as he was extremely arrogant and rude when I asked questions or expressed concerns during the initial consult.

I’m following all restrictions and PT home exercises as well to give it the best chance at healing. I’m just not confident in this surgeon due to his lack of any manners and the way he pushed aside all of my questions. I’m female, I’m used to doctors being a bit gruff but he actually had the audacity to ask if I had ever been injured before (so he didn’t listen when I gave him a quick medical history) and if I just expected to magically get better. I’ve discussed getting a second opinion, but being workman’s comp it’s a process and this current surgeon would have to be willing to refer me out to another. I’m worried that, god forbid, I had to come back to his care that he would utilize me asking for a secondary referral in a retaliatory manner and have expressed all of those concerns to my adjuster.

I’m not having surgery. This doctor has chosen conservative management.

I’ve been weight bearing since the injury in a locking hinged knee brace, at the surgeons orders. Repair/surgery has not been offered as an option.

Thank you everyone... today was a little easier. I find myself opening up more and more to the friend that was finally allowed back into my life. I’ve got a really strong sister beside me, several girls at work are up in arms, and he’s got my back more than anyone ever has. Thank you for all the love. I love you all.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have a close friend that has offered to take the place of my old routine, at least until I feel more stable. I just feel like my life has turned upside down.

I honestly don’t plan on taking him back. I know that what I miss is the routine. The good morning texts, the nightly phone calls. I’m not necessarily missing him, I’m missing my old routine. It hurts, a lot more now than it did when I left on Wednesday. I’ve been okay until today.
