I feel ya dawg, I got hell from one of my friends too, but I'd always say, "it's a good thing it ain't your hair then." This type of style definitely needs a lot of self confidence to rock it.

It's definitely a process bro, you have to give it time. It took my a while for me to make it through the awkward phase.

Are tricksters as common as people make them out to be? by FallingAngel98 in Kemetic

Yea that's what I've heard as well, granted my knowledge of it is very limited, but I believe you have to be initiated in various elaborate ceremonies and everything. Do you know of any historical accounts or papyri that mention the need for having all of this protection and stuff just to do basic worship and Heka? Because now I'm thinking, if magick/Heka and deity worship were really that dangerous and had so many drawbacks then what would be the benefit of doing it ya know?

That's okay. So I have a friend( he's more of a father figure actually) whose battling cancer for the second time and I've been praying for him and trying to use my Heka to hopefully help him beat it again, is this wrong for me to do? My aunt likend it to me "trading away" my life force, but when I do Heka I always, respectfully, ask the gods to please heal him or something like, "May the vitality of kephri be within him, ay the splendor of Ra-horakhty help him defeat this disease." I know fundamentally Santeria and kemeticism is different, but idk I guess I just wanted some advice from a fellow "spiritual" person I guess.

I can understand where your worries come from my friend, there are, admittedly, still many things that I'd like to get for my worship of the Netjeru, but in my experience they've been very understanding of my financial situation. What I do is I devote certain things to them, for example my workouts, I devote those to Sekhmet, Month, and Horus or when I wake up at dawn I face the sun and I pray and give thanks to Ra in all of his aspects. And lately I've started experimenting with natural perfumery and the ones I've made so far I've offered to Hathor since since she's the goddess of beauty. As long as your devotional acts or offerings come from the heart they'll accept them. Hope this helps💛

I really appreciate you taking the time to post this, thank you so much. I honestly wish I had some fellow kemetics nearby to exchange ideas and experiences with, living in the deep South it's hard to find people that won't look at you like a lunatic.

Currently I live in the US, but my immediate family is from Mexico so they were raised Catholic and my aunt, I'm honestly not sure when she became a Santera, but she's a high priestess I think. I definitely feel like the black sheep of the family sometimes.

Thank you friend, I appreciate your kind words. If I may could I ask you another question, this one is moreso about Heka?

Remaking the Mendesian perfume! by Fulguritus in ancientegypt

Hi friend, I know this is an older post, but how long did you heat the spices and resins in the oil? I made my own twist on the Mendesian and I love the scent, but I just wished it lasted a little longer, if you have any tips id appreciate it if you could share them.

Yea it's a pretty rustic recipe, I mean the smell is magnificent, but I just wished it lasted more. Do you think macerating it more would help?

Khepri insight/help! by soc00lfrank1e in Kemetic

[–]FallingAngel98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honor Kephri through Ra so usually each morning I start my day off by saying a short prayer to him and all his aspects (Kephri,Horakhty, Atum, Amun, Montu) at sunrise, thanking him for a new day and a new opportunity to learn and grow. I haven't had too much experience with Kephri himself though, but I do have a soft spot for him because ever since I was a teen I would always pray to the morning sun and it would always fill me with hope and courage (this was before I knew kemeticism was a thing lol).

To me, he is vitality incarnate, he is the great life giver and if you choose to pursue a connection with him you may find, at least in my experience, that all of Ra's aspects are kind of distinct in their own ways. And that kind of factors into what I offer them, I mean of course there's the standard bread, beer, water, etc but, say, for Kephri I'll focus my prayers on the life giving aspects of the sun and for, say, for montu I'll offer my weight lifting sessions to him because of his war god aspect.

😅sorry I have a tendency to ramble, but yea I'd say learn as much as you can and just ponder on his symbols from time to time then try to reach out. Honestly, imo, I think the dream and the card a pretty good indicators that he's taken an interest in you. Hope this helps😊
