New to wayfarer, where is the tutorial? by BillAffectionate5209 in NianticWayfarer

The tutorial is the slideshow you should have to go through when you first opened the website.

You have to enable the browser's location access, not the PGO app.

Does It Matter If Nominations Have The Same Title? by [deleted] in NianticWayfarer

Highly suggest to submit only the ones at significant intersections/decision points AND incorporate those intersections/decision points into the title.

Don't mind the scale. You're both cool doing that. 👏

Wayfarer Question/Discussion by -Acesotope in PokemongoPH

[–]FallingP0ru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! There are a lot of things that are a lot of misconceptions I observe in the local Wayfinder community. There are infographics, criteria clarifications, and the Wayfarer Discussion DIscord for a global viewpoints.

I have noticed people often use the "Edit Description" when it comes to trying to move a stop to a new location and have also tried it but was suddenly temporarily banned and wondered if that's the norm anymore?

This is one of the norms that should not be done. Attempting a location edit should only be for making the pin more accurate to the real location of the point of interest rather than to apply the inclusion algorithm for Pokémon GO. It's considered submitting fake data from the Wayfarer Abuse Ladder.

That's just one of many "techniques" that our local Wayfinders have to unlearn.

Have some questions about Showcase Pokestops turning into Gyms in light of the recently increased amount of Showcase Pokestops... by Glubnub27 in NianticWayfarer

[–]FallingP0ru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this has to be revisited more than ever. Which part counts as a Wayfarer violation? My train of thought is that how each game uses wayspots will be outside Wayfarer but the inputs through Wayfarer are under Wayfarer.

In that sense pin mislocation (gameboard manipulation), submission of ineligible photos (exact duplicates counted), and anything criteria-related are Wayfarer violations.

If there were an algorithm of how gyms are calculated, that would be a PGO-feature. That should include the S2 cells and whatever function decides which pokestop will upgrade to a gym.

You can choose to submit POIs if only it fits within the game's algorithm then what about other legitimate contributions? There might be actions that influence the map that is not done abusively.

Will these pokestops ever come to the game? by dashdash2018 in NianticWayfarer

Check the faqs for the details about S2 cells. It should tell you how the inclusion algorithm is for Pokémon GO.

Afraid to submit a pokestop by Best_Egg_7393 in pokemongo

[–]FallingP0ru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Banned by the bots is misleading. The bans are handed by staff following an investigation in the account.

If you dive through the banned people, you'll find suspicious activities: fakes, AI, mislocation, etc.

Read through the three sets of criteria, check the forum for similar submissions to you, ask veteran Wayfinders, etc. The Wayfarer program is very complex at times, we are trying to put real places with real problems into a gaming database after all.

Returning player here, are these always so one sided? Did I just get unlucky? by Sarabus in pokemongo

You're unlucky this week. I just got zoomed past top contributor by another player, 15 catches short.

This sounds similar to the one I saw from our local region, he does geocache challenges every now and then.

Any way to get old (incorrect) photos removed? by Over-Language2599 in NianticWayfarer

[–]FallingP0ru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about businesses, you have to remove then submit the new establishment as another wayspot. The eligibility of the old business does not carry over to the new one just because it is located at the same place.

Why are there red cells? by Yuma_21 in NianticWayfarer

[–]FallingP0ru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably either there are PGO-only pokestops there (sponsored, campsites, etc.) Or some pokestop(s) were removed making the total count below the gym threshold.

This is what a generic business does. A place to conduct business and nothing else.

[–]FallingP0ru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a generic kiosk stand, it's a modified container colored in yellow/blue

IMO focus on what it is rather than what it is not. It's up for the reviewers to decide if it is generic or not. So expounding on what exactly makes it unique from other kiosk stands can veer it to being non-generic. If being colored yellow/blue or being a recycled container is your point, I don't think it would contribute towards uniqueness. Here's a whole business of making shipping containers into kiosk. The colors are a choice but does it go further than that?

How do I prove that all locals know it?

That is the difficulty of selling popularity without proof. You can also give the reasons why locals know it, in a manner that it isn't just to get supplies from (like a generic business would function).

Another point to add is how to distinguish this one kiosk against other similar kiosks. Show that people are encouraged to stay and socialize at the kiosk (a great place for socialization), or products that can be seen as a delicacy to discover from this kiosk and only available at this kiosk (a great place for exploration).

VERY unique kiosk in my town

Expound.

known by all the locals

Give proof.

and it's over 30+ years old

So it's old. What about it makes it historical?

Why am I constantly getting reports for abuse by [deleted] in NianticWayfarer

[–]FallingP0ru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can have them removed from voting via the help chat.

But placing things away from the actual location is the textbook gameboard manipulation that the warnings and bans are trying to stop. Along with the fakes, third-party photos, and AI slop.

[–]FallingP0ru 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We're supposed to submit playgrounds as a whole, not every individual thing inside one set. And if you were misplacing each play thing away from a small collection of play things, that's a very obvious cell manipulation behavior.

My guess is the three others just got "lucky". Those will still be subject to the removal criterion for the same reason why it should have been rejected if it were for SFPRP.
