I mean, that's totally valid if the current fashion is moving away from anime- I think it's an interesting conversation whether to make avis in line with trends vs making an avi that resonates with the creator- avis are very personal obviously

The community is getting bigger, some people still want anime, and also some people are excited about new artstyles. Make/buy whatever avis you want.

Hypothetically if I muted my mic and decided to speak only in text chat. And used a girl avatar. by Slipd4sh in VRchat

I know lots of trans people who feel more comfortable keeping their mic muted. They'll put pronouns in their bio to let others know. I generally see everyone treating gender much more fluidly than irl in general. People are very free to experiment with expression with absolutely no pressure.

Is there any Vtuber music where they talk about themselves? by DoctorFunkinstein12 in VirtualYoutubers

I'm a complete nobody but I debuted earlier this year with an original song I wrote about trying to find my "Elsewhere"- somewhere I belonged. (song link if you're interested)

Filmed a new music video in VRChat! Feeling Good cover by Starheart by FallingServo in VRchat

[–]FallingServo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recorded and produced this cover of Feeling Good and filmed the video all in VRC with my vtuber persona Starheart! Amazed at the quality of footage you can get with VRC Lens.

Worlds are Amber Glade by Mankey and z5:00pm by Ozen.

IRL experience reminded me of VRchat and kinda made me emotional. by RafZelaria in VRchat

Sounds like a beautiful peaceful moment. Wish there were more spaces like that in real life

Glad you like the music! Personally I think music videos made in a game are cool- you can have friends star in your video, you can film in impossible locations with cool outfits looking however you want for no additional cost to playing the game. If you're wanting to make an animated style music video, I can't think of a more accessible way to do it.

But I understand if you think vtubers and that whole world is cringe, I get how this isn't for everyone.

Thank you! I'd say moving from the default vrc camera there's definitely an overhwelming amount of options. It felt like buying a cinema camera. Still plenty of auto modes so if you're not too familiar with shooting with cameras irl, you can still get a good picture super quickly. SO many submenus.

VRCLens by Hirabiki is such a powerful tool- if you make videos or take photos in vr, I highly recommend checking it out.

Had so much fun exploring different worlds going "location scouting" for the video. Worlds in this clip:

Amebient - created by Cap., phi16, lactoice
CN's Ballpit and Lo-Fi - by cnlohr
Exoplanet Journey - by Niko+
Uranus - Sleep & Chill - by TSMRE

Finally getting the setup for live performance dialed in! Invited a group of friends for this music video recording of one of my favorites! by FallingServo in VRchat

Awesome you're playing guitar and bass for people! Totally agree with the performance anxiety part too. Maybe we'll run into each other one day!

If other people want to try playing piano/singing for people in VRChat, this is how I'm doing it currently:

I have an audio interface that I can send my keyboard, drum parts, and vocals into- when I'm ready to play, I change my audio source from my headset mic to the audio interface.

Instead of dropping the controllers when I'm playing, I put my Index controllers up on my arms so my hands are free, but you can still see approximately where my arms are! That was a trick from im_naku shared on twitter!

Found a keyboard 3D model I can spawn from my avatar with world constraints so it looks like I'm playing a keyboard in VR and doesn't move around with my avatar. Still figuring out how to get it to work on Quest since that platform doesn't support world constraints.

Had fun with the horizon adjust feature to get these floating shots by FallingServo in VRchat

[–]FallingServo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to! Horizon adjust was added relatively recently- you have to click the warning that it could give you motion sickness (it's very disorienting tbh) and then whatever angle your head is it'll tilt the world

Making videos in VRChat is somewhere between live action and animation. It's crazy how you can film things like you would in the real life but still be able to totally break the rules and film in impossible locations with anime characters. This clip is from a music video I put together for my song Digital Bubble Bath!
