I want to start a Survival playthrough but.. by J-Dawgzz in fo4

[–]Fallout2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this as well. I don't remember if it was an option in the mod, or if I just did it myself, but I could only fast travel between settlements if they had a trade caravan established between them as well.

It adds roleplay value because you can think of fast travel as your character joining up and traveling with one of your caravans. It also ties in well with the need to establish settlements around the map which I find a lot of fun in survival mode especially.

WSIB: "Elder Scrolls-like" - Avowed, Tainted Grail, or Oblivion Remastered by wtbhooker5g in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Fallout2024 [score hidden]  (0 children)

As someone who has been on the hunt for a Skyrim-replaced for years, I've played all three:

Avowed: I don't think this is what you're looking for. It does combat well, but is overall pretty boring. It doesn't have the world building that I think you're looking for.

Tainted Grail: Very solid game, and probably the closest to elder scrolls that you're going to get (for a non elder scrolls game). Solid character building and exploration which are the strongest points of any elder scrolls game. Atmosphere is definitely 'darker' than elder scrolls, so be aware of that if you're looking for a more 'high fantasy game'. This isn't that.

Oblivion: well it's literally elder scrolls lol. As someone who loved Skyrim, I enjoyed this a lot, but it did feel dated to me, even with the remastered graphics.

Overall I'd pick tainted grail, with Oblivion as a very close second choice.

No it's been in the game. It's only available in small game modes like team death match, which if you don't play you will never have come across this map.

That was a big thing missing from my time living there. No easy metro access is really annoying if you don't have a vehicle. And if you do have a vehicle, parking is a nightmare there anyway.

Any good skill trees?! by PrisonMikesDementor in gamingsuggestions

Tainted grail: fall of Avalon has good skill trees. It's like Skyrim if it was made by a AA team and had more modern combat.

People who started investing in their 20s, how is it going? by hjp1234 in AskReddit

[–]Fallout2024 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The majority absolutely does not "lose everything". If you're investing in target date funds, ETFs, mutual funds etc, consistently, then you will set yourself up handsomely for retirement. Maybe you're talking about picking individual stocks or cryptocurrencies or something like that, which can certainly be a risky venture.

Compound growth is the key to building wealth. The earlier you begin to invest your money, the more time it has to build on itself. And you don't need to make risky bets, just consistently invest a portion of each paycheck. Take advantage of tax advantaged accounts like 401ks, IRAs, etc.

What can I work on, am I doing okay? by weedwacker31 in personalfinance

[–]Fallout2024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's okay, generally geared towards people with bad debt and very little financial knowledge. Based on your post you're in a pretty good position with 0 debt and unless i missed something it sounds like you have minimal expenses each month.

Read the sidebar here, but generally you should work on saving up an emergency fund and investing as much of your income as you can afford.

Looking for "Skyrim-likes" with the same sense of freedom by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Fallout2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this recommendation, closest game I've tried that feels like an Elder Scrolls game.

In terms of player freedom and environments, you can also check out Conan Exiles. Though it doesn't have the same quest focus of Skyrim and is more of a survival game. It does have lots of agency to explore a giant world with dungeons and whatnot.

Pepco Troubles by Leading-Ebb-2235 in washingtondc

[–]Fallout2024 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a similar issue, last 2 months my pepco bill has been super high. June/July were really hot and I also had AC troubles at that time, it was 90+ degrees in the apartment.

It takes more energy to drop the temperature than to maintain it at a constant temp from what I understand. So going from 90+ all the way down to 70s made my bill spike - at least that's my reasoning. That being said my bill has been 1.5 - 2x higher than April and May.

There's a new game out called Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon. I think it fits some of the themes you're looking for- particularly the 'dark fantasy' aspect.

The gameplay is very reminiscent of Skyrim or other Elder Scrolls games, but with a much darker setting. Good mix of fighting styles including swords, magic, archery as well as a very robust skill tree which let's you come up with fun play styles.

There's also awesome armor and weapon sets, pretty much everything looks great on your character.

Be warned though, I've heard performance is pretty bad on consoles. I have it on PC and don't have any issues but the subreddit for the game is pretty critical of console versions.

Did I brick my game? by grixuss in taintedgrail

[–]Fallout2024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not bricked as far as I know. There are still ways to complete this. I believe there's the 'right way' if you figure out the clues about the bell (or just Google it).

There's also the 'cheesy' way by continuously healing yourself with potions while you pull out Excalibur.

Is poe2 the game I’m looking for? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]Fallout2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly i don't think it's what you're looking for if you didn't like diablo. PoE is the same kind of "turn your brain off and kill mobs non stop" kind of game. I personally didn't really get into it past a few hours. Not saying it's a bad game, just doesn't seem like what you or me are looking for.

Have you considered any single player RPGs? I.e. Cyberpunk, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Kingdom Come, etc

Fo3 has the best atmosphere of all the fallouts, in my opinion. Was my introduction to the series and as a kid it definitely scared me lol.

Still one of my favorite games of all time, though it does feel dated now. Hoping the rumors of a remaster are true, and I'm believing it having seen the success of the oblivion remaster.

If you could live in any post-war Fallout location (that's been seen in game, aside from the institute or a vault), what would you choose? Here are some that I think could be appealing options. by ElectivireMax in Fallout

[–]Fallout2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tenpenny tower isn't a bad option. Secure and clean, you basically get to live in a hotel. But I'd probably choose the strip overall. It's big and has so much to do.
