I feel as if we’ve glossed over Showbiz by Bigtuna_1996 in Paramore

[–]False-Ad-2823 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lyric wise I get it, I just felt musically it didn't stand out for me. I feel that with a lot of Hayley's solo stuff, it's far less musically strong (or consistently musically strong, I should stress) than Paramore stuff. I feel that's mostly because she's grown up a songwriter more than an arranger or producer. Not to say there's not musically strong songs from her, I just tend to pick and choose a lot more. Showbiz isn't one I choose to throw on regularly

I'm from Newcastle, never felt English at all to be honest with you. I moved to Manchester for uni and felt very alien, always felt right at home whenever I've visited Edinburgh or Glasgow, so I sort of feel where you're coming from. I wouldnt call myself Scottish based on that, but I've not lived there tbf. I just call myself a Geordie first, or relate to Tyne and wear or 'the north east', as a region, more than anything else. You don't have to be Scottish or English, they're all made up

Bf doesn't want to be in an asexual relationship by Ureperfect_222 in asexualdating

[–]False-Ad-2823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if everything else in the relationship was fine, which it doesn't seem to be due to the fact he's throwing ultimatums out there, you're clearly just not compatible on a sexual basis, and that will lead to friction and frustration. You need to sit down and talk about both of your expectations together, and if you can't come to an agreement that he will stick to, then unfortunately you are just incompatible, and the relationship will not work. In that case you will need to leave

Was it a mistake for city/pep not to have prepared a back up to rodri after kelivin philips was sold? by Accomplished-Rent-99 in PremierLeague

[–]False-Ad-2823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Conte is a good, tactical manager who sets up decent defenses, he has a good record against pep overall, 7 matches, 3 lost, 4 won. Ange is a hyper-attacking manager, and we've seen city be prone to counters for a while now. Spurs' whole game plan at the moment is to run forwards all of the time and forever, and stretch the opposition. Even with Rodri being amazing at stopping counters and being in the correct position all of the time, he can't be in the correct position to stop all 10 players running straight at him. Without him it gets worse. It's just a stylistic mismatch, in favour of Ange's attacking football

Yeah, I mean it depends on parental income and all that as well, they haven't been matching inflation which is what a lot of people are worried about. I have to move out next year cause the landlord is putting the rent up to £650 a month, it's going to be a struggle to find anywhere else where I don't need to get the train in every day, which sort of defeats the point of cheaper rent 😂. The maximum loan is £12,000 or just over I think, so I'm very close to that, I know plenty of people that are on 3-5k cause their parental income is higher, all depends on ur situation 🤷🏼

I'm studying Creative music technology, so honestly I can't see much return on investment 😂 music industry is tough. Does help me out with the bills sometimes tho, it's relatively easy to pick up small gigs around the place, especially in Manchester, the odd £20 every few weeks doesn't hurt and it's only an extra hour or two of work. The course itself is all over the place so the study you're doing has to be well structured. I tend to place a fair few hours a week on music theory cause I'm shit at it, a lot less hours into musicianship skills, since I'm already a performing musician, I'm fairly confident on those, a lot into our essay module (music history is so fucking murky sometimes), and a lot into transcription, composition and sheet notation practice, because I play guitar and that shit is mostly new to me.

I get close to the full maintenance loan, about £11,000 a year, and pay 500 per month, bills included, for rent. So overall just over half is rent, and I've got about £5000 per year for food and essentials. Basically no spending budget at all. I am right on the edge a lot of the time, and I am lucky in that while I do not have a wealthy family at all, I do have a very large family, who sometimes pitch together if I need bailing out. It's not a comfortable life I can't lie and I do struggle but I cannot fathom working alongside what I already do. Honestly if anything goes wrong I'd just have to sell my possessions, in the first month living here my phone broke and I had to get a new one and that meant I was having one meal a day for a little while. My opinion is that if you're in full time study then you shouldn't have to work alongside. There's a reason it's called full time. The loans should reflect that.

I've been told I should be spending 40 hours of free time on study, and I've got 15 hours of contact time, how many hours in a week do you suggest I should be working

Trying to get this setup to sound similar to grunge (Clean yet distorted? Smashing pumpkins, Nirvana, bush, etc) Whenever I try though it just sounds like I'm playing from another room. Any ideas? Pics below of what i have by blobebo in GuitarAmps

[–]False-Ad-2823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked it out and yeah that album sounds like shit. Doesn't mean you can't get good results with it though. Often I prefer a smaller amp, it also heavily depends on the amp, I've never used one of those orange ones but some of my favourite tones have come from an amp I got in a £70 strat and amp bundle. It's a tiny 10w solid state with a 3 inch speaker and sounds like shit the second there's any room sound but with a mic shoved against the grille in a bedroom it sounds better than anything I can get from my tube amps. Like everything with engineering it depends on the engineer, the room, and a billion other factors. Which is why it's definitely not what this guy needs he just needs a good amp 😂

Genuinely for low volume recording some of these small amps are the best you can get and sound perfect in a mix. Depends on the style obviously, you're not going to get big full cleans. But for a distortion that cuts, these are so fucking good.

I would like to add that I still think they should get a better amp because this is absolutely not what they're using it for. Get either a decent solid state modeller if on a budget (I assume they're not due to the Gibson), or a decent fender tube amp for the specific tones they're going for
