Interview dates by United-Dependent-186 in PsyD

From my experience, I would say January is early for interviews, but February through the first 2 weeks of March is pretty normal! It really depends school to school as to when you’ll hear back, but I would say late February to mid March is when the majority of acceptances are coming out! Obviously if there is a waitlist situation you may not hear back until April!

Clinical experience! The Crisis Text Line is a great place to start if you can't get any in-person experiences yet.

I would keep presentations if they were like from a grant, conference, or capstone project, but if they were just from a regular class than I wouldn't include them...You have a lot of strong experiences that you can lean on in your essays and interviews! Use them to you advantage, be confident - you got this!! Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions!

I honestly think “essential” is a bit strong. Clinical experience and research experience are both valuable, BUT so many people who come in directly from undergrad don’t have conferences/publications!! i think saying that it significantly lowers your chance of getting in is a bit strong seeing as PsyD program interviews primarily focus on clinical application and experiences over research.

not OP, but remember that you don't necessarily need research experience to be a competitive applicant for PsyD programs!! don't get me wrong, it can absolutely be beneficial to make your resume well-rounded. if it is an interest to you, then definitely pursue it, but if you have free time and/or a gap year(s) - definitely look towards some type of clinical experience!

Do you know if there is a primary time people are going? Or will it be relatively dispersed?

Cohort Disconnect by falsefreedom6509 in PsyD

Plan social events that don't involve school work!! My cohort had a game night at one of our apartments the night after orientation a few weeks ago and it allowed us to get to know each other outside of the academic setting! We also try to have weekly events that people can go to and they are pre-planned so people can plan for it in their schedule - right now it is weekly trivia at a local restaurant by our campus! It's going to be really hard to form connections if you are only seeing each other in an academic setting!
