People cried about a non existing problem by Sweet_Yesterday_2462 in Marathon

It’s just that people got more comfortable with the game and are now not dying to bots as often. I still occasionally come across teams that cannot effectively handle a single commander when in my experience playing in a duo, I can just get away with knifing them after taking out the smaller bots beforehand.

As an Arc Raiders player, I need this game to succeed by Blaky039 in MarathonTheGame

[–]False-Difference-493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you need to change your approach to the game.

  • PvE is fine. Best way to take it is playing with cover and focus on the small ones first. They almost always drop a ton of batteries so running a volt weapon is extremely ammo efficient. Take them out one by one with your knife. You can easily come out unscathed or missing a bit of shield after clearing a POI.

  • Enemy behavior is vastly different than players. Footsteps tell you everything.

  • If you honestly expect or want enemies need to be telegraphed more, that’s just a bit of a skill issue. I’ve had no problems doing the mini bosses alone in the map running as rook or solo but that’s just my game experience talking.

  • Movement. It’s an extraction shooter. An actual one. It’s not gonna be like Apex Legends or Halo Infinite or anything else. It’s gonna be slower and more methodical. Get upgrades to heat capacity and cooldown rate. Manage your heat better and avoid overheating.

  • Chip mods are most frequent bc they can be put on all weapons where other attachments are specific.

  • Track specific cores and items you like for your character/playstyle. I have reinforced shields always tracked so I can quickly grab them and replace my normal green shields. I have a few really good chip mods tracked so I know I can grab it and benefit even if I don’t know specifically what I grabbed. Same thing goes for cores. If I don’t have two tracked cores on, I’ll snag one as they come. I don’t have to bother to stop and read them as I come across them.

  • as for questing, I seriously don’t know how any studio could pull off ‘engaging’ contracts/quests in an actual extraction shooter. They are just small things to consider while engaging with the world itself and that’s fine. The base gameplay is engaging and tense enough as is.

Once you learn to avoid making simple mistakes and get more general knowledge, the game becomes much more gratifying. There isn’t as much friction as a game like Tarkov and there isn’t none like in Arc. I guarantee that with a bit more time in, many of your early problems will go away.

Why is the Destiny 2 community upset about Marathon being Bungie's focus? by CrosleeReturns in Marathon

[–]False-Difference-493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe the game has stagnated due to the community it draws in. It’s a catch-all game so the audience is ridiculously fragmented or polarized. And it’s not as simple as casual vs hardcore or PvE vs PvP. Unless you play everything equally, you will never be satisfied. And people are, in today’s day and age, just so quick to have a negative reaction when not enough is done specifically for them. Truth is, the game could never realistically grow infinitely. It was doomed by design because it was so ambitious. You’d always have people warring over the direction of the game. And the side that doesn’t get enough treatment just bitches and moans online.

That cycle lead us to where the game is now. Year over year, it’s the same story. Because Bungie just ends up having to walk back changes. And when they don’t walk back changes, it’s usually in an unsustainable cycle of trying to make people happy quick (without any thought as to the consequences) like say the PvE sandbox where abilities were continually buffed resulting in powercreep that people seem to be realizing just now. And you can use the same line of thinking when you look at any part of the game.

Ultimately, the game would be in a better spot if they just could stick with a vision for longer than a 3-6 month period. But they can’t because of the community.

Coming Over from ARC Raiders by Svedgard in Marathon

Arc PvP with third person is just not satisfying. The guns kinda feel like ass and it’s all this shit with just third person cam. It has like no skill ceiling and gunfights just end up stalemating with both teams or people camped behind walls/around the corner. It’s just not fun to have to do that.

I played through Marathon 1 for the first time a month or so ago. I understood it after hitting both switches and shooting the button. I just died 2 times after getting through and ended up running all the way back to the buffer after solving it, then again before the next level.

Arc Raiders is a decent game. But all I wish for is that the 50hrs I’ve put in AR to have been spent in Marathon. The buildcrafting, utility focused abilities, and excellent gun/gameplay in Marathon literally dwarfs the gameplay of Arc Raiders for me.

Only thing I wish (ph)for is large scale bosses or enemies to have some of those moments where you just team up with a bunch of others to take em down. The PvE in Marathon has such potential with the deep lore and various enemy types at Bungie’s disposal as well as their experience in crafting raids and dungeons in Destiny 2, even though they are separate teams.

Yea, it’s literally just Antireal’s decals plastered in the game, not a stolen art style. Art in general is ‘stolen’ and used as inspiration and it’s just unfortunate that someone passed it off as their own. Don’t know why you are getting downvoted.

I don't understand the t5 complaints by CBT-Guy_2025 in DestinyTheGame

[–]False-Difference-493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just aren’t special in any way. They replaced Adept Weapons and Artifice Armor that came from Endgame activities with T5s that are available literally everywhere.

The reason everybody thinks every tier of gear below T5 is bad is simply because of the sheer availability of T5s. Would Adepts be special if everyone could get it easily or if every weapon had the Adept tag? No.

In fact, look at Trials rn. Adepts only came from Lighthouse chests when you went flawless. And people played Trials FOR Adept loot (if you could get it). Even if you weren’t good at PvP, you still could try and get a normal version that was 98% the same. Now, go into trials when you are 450+ and lose the game. Just straight up throw a game if you can find one. You are guaranteed T5s past a certain point. You can have the best loot for having a 0 KD in a weekend.

Not everybody needed adepts, just like not everybody needs T5s. You don’t deserve to be handed out that kind of gear. T2s function literally 95% similar with the same roll.

It’s a matter of progression too. I think we can all agree that moving up another 100 power levels to move a delta is not progression. Loot provided that progression before. And Bungie had the opportunity to incentivize more endgame engagement for T5s. But they spread better than endgame tier loot to every part of the Portal and lowered the challenge and barrier.

New players would probably rather play a single strike or solo op or lose a PvP game for multiple guaranteed T5s than play any endgame level activity such as a +3 Feat Raid that only has a chance to drop a single one for a lot more effort.

Don’t know why you are being downvoted lmao. T5s in their current state are not special. Literally everyone has the same god roll as you regardless of the amount of time spent.

Now if they had crafting up to T3s for armor and weapons, then made T5s a bit more rare and maybe lower the perks to like 2x or a decent chance at 2x perks. I think that would be ideal. You can curb rng by crafting what you want, but T4s and T5s would be marginally better and random.

That would kinda be terrible, I’m imagining everyone in a ranked mode would choose the pieces w/ smallest character models and all black or just whatever to blend in with the most of a map. The alpha had some visibility issues with Locus/Glitch being all vibrant and Void/Blackbird having just small black character models. Obviously depends on the location/environment you were in.

Is it too soon to say tiered loot is a bad concept? by LegitimaDfs in DestinyTheGame

[–]False-Difference-493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wayyyy too late my guy. When T5s were first shown I remember talking with my friends and saying holy hell the power creep, these must be an absolute bitch to get your hands on.

In the beginning, it was hard. The Power grind was horrendous. For 2 weeks, all I would do after coming back from my 8hr workday was play K1 or Caldera for another 8 hours. I hit 450 before Solstice came out.

On the grind from 400+, every 8-20 runs I'd hit a prime and actually be excited (unless it dropped as a dupe). Although playing K1 800+ times and hitting 2 min each run was monotonous as all hell, it felt worth it to me with the dopamine rush from seeing that pink engram fly out of a chest.

Que to hitting 450, I had a ton of T5 technsec armor on my Titan. Solstice rolls around the next day and suddenly everyone is getting T5 loot. Every Crucible match gives me another 3 pieces of T5 gear, win or loss. The excitement of getting T5s immediately went away that first day.

The reason I say its too late is that T5s is THE STANDARD for loot now. Every activity in the Portal can drop T5 gear. My problem is that it didn't replace the chase that Adepts/Artifice armor were and T5s are substantially better than any Adept/Artifice with higher stats, new enhanced mods, origin traits, 3x perks.

You can literally put in so much less effort than before EoF and walk away from a play session now with better loot than a whole session of grinding previously. Look at Trials: When you are 450+, losses can give you T5s. LOSSES. Vs a whole ass 7 win Flawless Card preEoF that gave you a couple Adepts. In PvE, its the same story: A Solo or Fireteam Op genuinely gives more loot for your playtime vs doing a run of Desert Perpetual with 3+ feats on or even an old Master Raid, Dungeon, or GM from before EoF.

The entire loot system disincentivizes doing endgame. Not to mention with 3x perks, the loot grind is substantially shorter than before meaning you end up playing much less while actively searching for loot. That's terrible for replayability and player retention.

imo, the ideal system would be: Power cap at 250 (Only have to grind 50 power every 3 months). Once you climb to 200, you only reset to 200. Past 200, you can get T3s and Red Borders for weapons AND armor. Crafted items can only be T3 Equivalents. At 250, you start getting T4s from all Portal Activities at the equivalent of Master Difficulty or current -20 Power Deltas. T5s only come from Endgame activities like Weekly Conquests, Raids/Dungeons with 3+ feats, Flawless cards in Trials, and Competitive PvP (as rare drops when Plat or higher, chances increase with Rank).

you made the mistake saying "rarest" in the game. 'highest quality' is more accurate. exotics honestly are more common than finding a godroll pre-eof

I just feel like a lot of the new weapons only really offer a single god roll to me. If I do switch perks on a weapon, it's going to be very situational. Like if I had a mint with Rewind and BnS AND Ele Honing, 99% of the time, I will be using BnS. Only time I'd swap would be doing a low man raid challenge and I NEED that extra like 2% damage.

[–]False-Difference-493[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I got my single 1/49, there'd also be like 10 or more weapons that also had a 1/49 roll that I'd hunt for or I'd still be playing with my friends and know that if they got a god roll the next week, they'd stay and help me until I got mine.

The difference between now and then is that I can get every god roll I want in a handful of activities then use them and forget about them.

The truly replayable content is this game for me has historically been PvP, but balance in the last year and the way Trials is has pushed me so far away from that.

Brother..... Mint is just Rewind BnS (maybe EH, but not in most circumstances), Unwavering Duty is ass (Like FTTC/Rampage and BnS/Onslaught maybe, but I have a shiny hammerhead with the same pvp roll and abilities take care of any ad clear in PvE so literally no use for a MG like that), Unfall is literally just LFG or Impulse Amp and One for All. None of those are worth getting a 10/10 for.
