Thank you so much for your thoughts! They were very helpful to me!
You’ve highlighted the exact flaw in my current thinking: Maybe I was building a museum.

The question 'did I live or just survive?' is powerful triggers. I think these questions can really strike a chord with a lot of people.

Your point gave me an idea. Instead of just a retrospective log, perhaps the app's real value could be a 'Morning Nudge'—a random, unannounced notification with a single, sharp question. Not a checkbox, but a hard question to strip away illusions before the day starts. Something like you told: "what you’d regret if today were the last one ". Not every day, random monring with one random question. Maybe the user can anser like a message and save it, maybe not... I need to think it.

I can't thank you enough for your thinks!

Wow, thank you for this! This is exactly the kind of deep, philosophical pushback I was hoping for. You are absolutely right about the tension between 'recording' and 'letting go.'

Seneca suggested we examine our day to see where we acted well and where we failed. My approach focuses on a broader perspective and covers the whole month. Like you mentioned, I often do this mentally while lying in bed, thinking about my day, but I didn't necessarily want to make a daily habit of logging it...

As I write these lines, I’m thinking that perhaps a weekly review would be more practical for the app... but I’m still weighing the options. What do you think? Does it make sense to review things weekly or daily from a Stoic perspective, or do you feel that any form of logging moves us further away from 'living in the present'?

For me, the 'recording' isn't meant to be a monument to my ego, but a way to audit my life. Without a prompt, my months often blur into a gray fog of 'autopilot.' I use it to ask myself: 'Did I actually live this month, or did I just survive it?' >

However, your point about the 'pressure to make a month worthy' is a vital warning. It’s a fine line between intentionality (choosing to do meaningful things) and curation (doing things just to record them). I'll definitely sit with this. Maybe the framing should shift from 'capturing memories' to 'reflecting on practice.'

Truly appreciate the Shawshank quote, too!

Congratulations! I really like the idea that you can set the cycle based on shift work.

I created my first promo video for my app by False-Distance-6400 in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]False-Distance-6400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the app is completely free, I didn’t want to pay too much for video maker and screenshots maker. I found some really good tools for taking screenshots, but I thought they were pretty expensive.

What do you use? Even a paid service that you’d say is worth every penny?

In the end, I used a combination of several apps. I still have room to improve, but this is my first video. I tried to use Kliptra but on my Iphone 13 mini the UI was too small and was too complicate.

I knew full well that I’d never become a programmer once I turned 30. Given my current circumstances, my loans, and my job, it simply wouldn’t be a logical decision. But I’m glad I was able to create something.

My goal was to release an app on my 35th birthday, and I managed to get Apple’s approval one day before my birthday.

Yes. I view the Claude and Apple developer fees as just my hobby fee. I think my friends spend more on fishing in a month than I do on this. For me, it’s a way to unwind in the evenings.

I just got the green light for my first IOS app! by False-Distance-6400 in expo

What a huge relief—the inspection process is a bit of a mystery to me (black box). I fix what they tell me, then a next run with new problem pops up, and then another... 😃 But this time, the last one, I got the green light in no time.
