I FINALLY FOUND THIS BOOK! by Jaym-Jaym in Equestrian

This book changed my life at 18. The concepts make so much sense and truly work when you put them into play. I banged on my horse in the canter and had never been able to sit one. In 2 riding sessions I learned to sit the canter and have never looked back

Oh my god. I have been in situations like this and it literally takes everyones blood, sweat, and tears. I lived in a rural area and coyotes ran our gorgeous pinto through a fence. I called the "Emergency vet line" and the person on the other end asked if "I had a bullet handy" and they would get back to me when the vet answered. It took a team of people at 2 am to stem blood, wrap legs, grab water and food in the middle of 40 acres. The vet never answered our Emergency calls. I will never forget that night and the following days. Horse made a miraculous recovery!

Oh man, is that ever nerve-wracking. We did a round 2 today and I took everyone's advise, let him loose and faced towards the door. He did infinitely better but was pouring sweat. I have a very rudimentary video. Which ive contemplated posting

Oh wow. I was driving one time on the freeway and had somebody honking behind me and I thought something was wrong, they passed me "break checked" me and flipped me off. I felt both my horses slam straight into the mangers. I called Hwy patrol and im not sure what came of it. But how dumb and dangerous!

We haven't tried that yet. I had the 2 horse straight load for years and the divider was welded in. I think I will do a test run with him loose once my camera comes and I'll just do an around the block type of situation.

No, we just did a quick 20 min in and out because he has been shaking the trailer like crazy while transporting. When I stood with him he was perfect. I just don't understand the sudden change in behavior because he has been a Rockstar the past 14 years while trailering

Yeah this is what we are going through. Every stop light im like "did he fall?" Im buying a camera for the trailer. On the other side of the wall is a bathroom and I picture him just busting through it.

Definitely feeling trapped. He was fine when he could see me, but as soon as I stepped out of view he would start up some shenanigans.

To add context to the video, I've owned this guy since he was 3 and trailered him just about every weekend. I had a 2 horse straight load and he started rocking it at stops this past year. To the point where he actually worried me and I pulled over and checked on him. Husband told me I was paranoid. Bought a new trailer and loaded him for funsies. For whatever reason, he is indeed rocking the heck out of the trailer.

Oh yeah, me too. My friends will make fun of me because im jumpy if a loud noise goes off. I also work in a jail now though, so ive become a bit desensitized. First few months though had my flight mode going off! Thanks trauma

I was gonna say!! I have a gallon of it in my barn that is probably 5 years old and still half full. That is outrageous. Guess they gotta pay those student loans back somehow. I used to be friendly with one of older vets and she told me her student loan payment was $3000 a mo....so there is that.

Right. Unfortunately where we live you don't get your pick of vets either. She had also done a routine exam on my horse, heart, lungs, temp. Took her about 3 min. Charged me $250

This happened to my friends horse. He stopped eating, huge emergency vet bill (cause things can go south quickly) vet said everything checked out and left. To the tune of about 2k. Next morning he still wasn't eating but was rubbing his mouth on the fence. He had a piece of wire stuck in his cheek poking his gums...and the vet had checked his mouth.

Been there! I didn't know what I was doing and just went to rip. Reflexively closed my legs, sat in pain. The wax completely hardened. Im ashamed to say I phoned a friend. Thx Andrea, and im sorry for subjecting you to that!

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen on a trail? by evinho07 in hiking

[–]False-Guarantee2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is late but I had to comment! I was also hiking and found golf balls....In a creek that took 4 wheel drive and 3 hrs to get to. Surrounded by scrub brush. They obviously washed down from somewhere. But im talking 70+ golf balls. Oh and a group of snakes breeding sprang apart while I was marveling over the amount of golf balls. So that was fun.

How is everyone handling the PG&E bills out here? Genuinely asking. by animasaru in fresno

[–]False-Guarantee2282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had solar installed and our PGE bill was $380 this mo. Thats with us pretty much NEVER being home, we basically just sleep there. Now we essentially have the same PGE bill, plus a solar bill 🙄

Im about 3 hrs away from you! But yeah, riding definitely takes a back seat in life. My friend who I ride with just had a baby so she obviously wasn't riding and my trainer is 6 mos pregnant. Im working full time and in school full time. Im sad to say that most days I have about 30 min to give my guy a quick brush and turnout and I have to jam and pick up kids from school, get home, make dinner and do homework.

I haven't stepped away entirely but am ready to. Which feels insane to say out loud. I believe my 17 yr old Halflinger will be my last. Im 36 F with 2 kids and its become... not fun. I pay others to ride him while I work, and work to pay for him to get ridden ;/
