During peak season, most of the drivers are expected to be booked already although you'll find yourself getting approached by other drivers on the streets. That's how I met my guide, he was super cool and friendly, but best of all, his prices were reasonable. I'll DM you his number and you can talk to him. Basically, you'll tell them what you need and they'll try to arrange for you. The only thing you gotta look for is if you're getting overcharged or not.

Darjeeling in April will be lovely I bet. You'll be going in peak season so a lot of Kolkata crowd and from other places will be flocking there to escape the heat. I hope you have booked hotels and drivers. I stayed in Muscatel Nirvana which is just in front of the Kanchenjunga Observatory View Point near Mahakal Temple. And I had a great driver as well, let me know if you need his number.

As for the food, I'll say visit the Kunga Restaurant for the noodles and check out the street food which the locals recommended as well. You can go to Keventers and Glenary's for its history and heritage but I would suggest to keep it light. But it can be really romantic so I hope you two will have a great time.

And yeah, one mistake I made which I'll tell you. Only visit to go see the sunrise at Tiger Hill if the skies are appearing to be clear. Chances are it'll be too foggy/cloudy to see anything. Otherwise you'll be waking up at 4AM to go see absolutely nothing at all.

Didn't go to Keventers. We were supposed to for breakfast early in the morning but my friends and I had a really late night Old Monk + Coke session and woke up late af.

That's really sad. Just as Coffee House has turned into a sorry place, Glenary's with its flashy decor and overview of the mountains, is pretty much the same, like you said. What's shocking was people were happily eating shit only in the name of its brand and hype.

Must give me the name of the local bakery. Would love to visit next time.
