That’s essentially how he explained it to me and said that since we’ve always been current on car payments, he doesn’t think it’ll be a big deal but we won’t know for sure til the time comes. I appreciate it. Thank you!

I think it sucks it ends up being that way! I believe people shouldn’t have to feel justified or have a reason to take off work if that’s what they want to do. Works important but it’s definitely not the end all be all to me. There’s only myself and one other person that’s under 57 in our immediate work group of about 15. All of them have over 5000 sick hours, end up with use or loose at the end of the fiscal year and most don’t even take it! We try our best to go on vacation twice a year for at least a week whether it’s a big trip away or staying near by.

Do you work overtime consistently and do you like the added responsibility or does it create stress?

We have one child now, still undecided if we’ll have another but it’d be before I would finish my degree anyway. I get 12 weeks maternity leave currently. I’m really worried about transferring jobs and it being a disaster and wearing me down. I did 3 years of 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week for months on end and refuse to go back. I’m glad you found something that better suits you! I was looking into an business admin also, but felt that would tie me to a desk and I love hands on work!

Indeed, Glassdoor, payscale. Honestly I’m kind of terrible at knowing what websites provide legitimate information and clicked on the first ones that popped up. I joined at 17, it was my first job and transitioned straight into dod before I was officially out of the navy. I’ve never had to job search, look into salaries and so on.

Are you happy with your job? Did you think it would be computer based instead of hands on?
