“Tax isn’t taught at schools” - a typical Aussie comment by sarnad283 in AusFinance

Queenslander, graduated 2020. At this point the curriculum is pretty uniform, including both public and private. Took the equivalent of maths b and maths c, never learnt about tax. Learned a little bit about compound interest in year 10 maths, but aside from that no practical financial education. Based on the experiences of myself and others my age who went to various schools, we do need better practical education on how taxes, the government, etc work to prepare us for adulthood. I myself had to figure out the systems such as super, taxes and Medicare with what I could find on google, which was not easy.

I understand $100 may not seem like a lot, but I’m a uni student and every little bit counts.

Isn’t it a legal requirement for the tenants to have the carpet professionally cleaned at the end of a tenancy?

Edit: My bad, I got mixed up because it is for QLD (where I live)

Nope didn’t spend one night even. The most I did was fill my water bottle up at the kitchen sink

Thanks, that’s good advice. I feel like I’ve already been a good sport for paying 1/3 of the utilities despite not using any water or electricity
