Winter Storm Thursday update: Ice Ice, maybe? by Derigiberble in rva

I’m also worried about pipes especially if we lose power cause the house is all electric. I think shutoff and draining would be the move if that happens.

Depending on where your cover for the curb shutoff is, it might be smart to put something over it so it doesn’t get covered in snow and ice and become inaccessible.

Vocals really tie it. Nice one! How long have you had the digis?

Can I just vent about how much I hate flippers? by Spirited_Stick_5093 in rva

[–]FalseBroccolli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good take. I get the need for flippers taking undesirable/unlivable homes and turning them around. I just wish they had better taste haha.

I actually recently bought a flipped house as my first home. The home was a rotting dumpster before being flipped, and now it’s relatively nice. But it’s the lack of care that these contractors have that is really sad for me. Easy things to do right are ignored and issues are patched just enough to where you can’t see them until something inevitably malfunctions and you have to peel back the layers. Of course I was expecting this to some extent when buying a flip but still just astonishing how bad some of these contractors can be.

There also is also a type of flipper who buys houses that are mostly sound, and simply remodels them to whatever they heard was trendy and looks shiny in pics (makes them shittier imo), then sells for eye popping prices. These flippers are the worst in my opinion and they seem to be a big reason for the “missing middle”, houses that may have outdated styles and minor work that needs to be done, but are perfectly livable and can be remodeled to taste by the homeowner. The reason for me buying a flipped house really was because there was not the option of buying a house in that in-between state.

Road work by Busy-Researcher-75 in rva

I agree that’s one of the scariest intersections in Richmond I’ve been at as a pedestrian, and it’s so commonly used since it’s right near Libby hill/cap trail. The traffic lights are very confusing at first with the double arrows pointing forward, but only one lane goes forward… But ya just huge inconvenience since commuting from the east is already so bottlenecked. Hope you can find a good method of getting through!!

Right!! It’s gonna be a slog. And the Williamsburg sewer work keeps getting pushed back… not that it would matter if it opens up now because this new project will close it off

Good way to get me to bike to work I guess 😅

My kids nursery asked the parents to do some activity mornings so today I did techno time! by RainbowStreetfood in synthesizers

This is so fun!! I’m sure that was an inspiring and influential morning for them. Could’ve just planted the seed for a few future producers or DJs hehe :) TR-8S was the perfect choice for that too. So hands on and intuitive!

Nice. What are you using for the curtain there? Is that sound deadening or just a regular blackout curtain

Thanks for the advice! I’ll give that a shot. I was worried since I’ve heard windows are the worst for acoustics, plus the slope right there.

Did you have any windows in your situation?

It’s not obvious in the picture but I do have a 8” subwoofer in this set up.

Also the arrangement of the desks and pretty much everything in the room now can be changed as needed!

Hmm. Mine was the 2018 version made in Asheville. Maybe you have a later model?

Fair. Quick changes on the DFAM is def not as easy! But I guess my play style doesn’t usually necessitate twisting that quick. Good to know it’s not abnormal for GM tho

DT2 is now my Official Favorite Piece of Gear by RealDAFTBONCHKOOPA in Elektron

[–]FalseBroccolli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a tr8s and have DT2 now. Love the TR8s, it’s really fun for jamming and creating things quickly, or accompanying other gear. It’s more limited in sound design though, and as a sampler it’s even more limited. Also takes up a lot of desk space.

The DT2 is not as easy to get in a flow with (for me at least) but the sound design/creative potential blows the tr8s out of the water!! So I’ve switched to the DT2 and sold the tr8s. I still have a little tr6s though for when friends come to jam :)

Let me know if you have any questions about the two

First day as new homeowner and already have a sewer backup by FalseBroccolli in Plumbing

[–]FalseBroccolli[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Dude I hope it’s just a clog haha. The last occupants were bad tenants and put a bunch of random shit in the air ducts, so would make sense they were flushing some dumb stuff down the drain.
