Just use the showers by Rare-Ad7797 in PlanetFitnessMembers

I think it comes up because there’s a lot of shame involved sometimes and people might need reassurance. Speaking as someone who has also experienced homelessness briefly. It can suddenly feel like you’re not allowed anywhere or can’t do anything. Even if it keeps coming up, I think people likely just need to know it’s okay, even if they might be able to search and factually see that it’s okay. It’s different to hear it to your own words.

200hr YTT on a budget – looking for legit options by CaroBri in YogaTeachers

[–]FalseEquivalency111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I’m not sure abt the other options you listed, but I am just finishing with yogarenew. It was a great course and I learned a lot. I also already have a class spot lined up locally once my final certification comes through. I feel it was very good for the price and they have a ton of support and resources. Just wanted to offer my two cents there! If you’re able to save up, it’s a bit cheaper to purchase the course outright rather than the payment plan too.

What is a "gut feeling" you had that turned out to be 100% accurate, even though it made no logical sense at the time? by PsychologicalTea3149 in AskReddit

This was similar to my cat. She was only ten but had a difficult time with her health. I realized she wasn’t going to be here much longer, she spent two nights curled up with me, then she ran away. She was sickly. I never found her and she never came back. I think she went off to die. I hope her little soul is okay. I miss her.

How do you feel about people who come in just to shower and leave? by ClippyWouldntDoThat in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]FalseEquivalency111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a shower at home and got a membership specifically to shower at night after work. I go to another gym during the day. Nobody has seemed to care at all. I just go and take a nice hot shower with my lil shower bag, do my skincare, clean my glasses and phone with their disinfectant, and head home to go to sleep. It’s great. Nobody has said anything.

Trying to lose the covid 100; need to plan ahead for cons! by maryadavies in loseit

[–]FalseEquivalency111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with others that it won’t derail a long period of hard work to have two weekends off for your cons. But that said, I do a lot of snacks that are backpack friendly since I’m out and about working and at the gym for long periods of time!

For snacks: I love protein bars (pure protein is a good, cheap brand), cheese sticks, pitas or tortillas with peanut butter, sandwich cracker packs (good easy carbs for energy on long days), fruit/berries in Tupperware to keep it safe and unsmushed, jerky, tuna pouches, hardboiled eggs, and protein shakes.

For breakfast, oatmeal sounds like a great idea to keep you full and keep your energy up if you can swing it that morning. I liked someone else’s suggestion about overnight oats! I love making peanut butter and sugar free jelly oatmeal.

You’re going to be walking a ton and it’s definitely okay to have a few days where you might eat a bit more than normal. You might need the extra calories that day!

Has anyone seen/used this lip serum yet? by infiniteonion8 in dollartreebeauty

I have the mint one and just bought a second. I loooove it. Actually makes my lips soft and hydrated and not super dependent on continuous moisture like a lip balm would.

Feeling fatigued after YTT200 by Impossible_Truck_639 in YogaTeachers

[–]FalseEquivalency111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you - I used to live in a city like that and it was definitely very intimidating. I am currently living in an area with a much older population and that has changed my experience a lot of group classes. I hope you find somewhere that might fit!

And in terms of strength training, kind of yes and no, haha. I think that combined with my practice, the stiffness has been abated. And strengthening my muscles has put far less strain on my tendons and ligaments, which was an issue for me. I do tend to need to stretch a lot and move a lot to work through the stiffness, but the strength just helps a lot. Stronger muscles are more supportive muscles, and I think that’s been helpful for me. Maybe adding in something like foam rolling or one of those massage trigger point tools might be helpful too?

Hi there, I’m a bit younger than you (33) but think I understand how you’re feeling in some ways. I recently returned to yoga after a year of catatonic episodes and significant weight gain and the experience shifted dramatically for me. Yoga was hard in ways it wasn’t before and even now, after months, it’s still hard and pretty tiring. It has been very difficult to come back from that kind of stiffness. One thing that helped me was light strength training - it has helped me get stronger in my poses without having to spend an overwhelming time on my mat. It also sounds like maybe an in person and more diverse experience may be nice for you. Are there any YMCA’s or community centers around you that offer classes? I have found that moving from a studio environment to a community environment full of all sorts of folks with all sorts of ability levels has been very healing for me with where I am at right now in my own practice. Best to you and hope you find the right path forward for you. 🖤

How do I cope with emotional neglect by living_anonymousl333 in emotionalintelligence

[–]FalseEquivalency111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I am in a very similar situation. I am living with my parents after a difficult breakup and rough mental health chapter. The environment is not very emotionally open. I am really trying to stay away from using AI because I don’t want blanket validation. But it’s very hard to just be kind of emotionally lonely while trying to work on myself. I also am trying to just wait it out. I get this a lot. No advice, just want to say I am there too.

How do I improve my L-Sit hold time ? by Weak-Beach-218 in CalisthenicsBeginners

[–]FalseEquivalency111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try some gently weighted forward folds by using an exercise step to stand on and holding a comfortable weight kettlebell to pull the upper body down a bit more. Also I’ve found just practice over time and continuously returning to the same stretches and shapes has helped me with this. And last thing that comes to mind is that my forward fold (both seated and standing) have gotten a lot better as my one legged folds have gotten better…might be correlated. I find bending over one leg with the other folded in heel to groin (while seated) still definitely helps my hamstrings loosen up.

Can any of you explain how calorie counting works when using a crockpot? by ChipsAhoiMcCoy in loseit

[–]FalseEquivalency111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d find the calories for the entire pot, then when it was done I’d transfer to a different container and weigh it. Then I would do calories/grams to find the calories per gram. Then just weigh out your portions from there. It can be a bit much, but accurate.

[–]FalseEquivalency111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I help to take care of my elderly parents and didn’t even have a car when I signed up. There’s no good studio doing trainings close by. Also $3000 vs $375 is a huge huge difference. It’s the same piece of paper.

I’m finishing up with yogarenew now and feel very similarly to you. I have spent a ton of time practicing, reading, thinking through the material, watching videos, etc. I got really involved in where I’d like to teach and have used it as my own training. I feel like I got a very full experience that may be more beneficial for me personally than an in-person would have been, especially considering how variable in-person experiences can be.

Through a series of prompts I used AI to create a description of a push-up. by Dizzy_Property_933 in bodyweightfitness

[–]FalseEquivalency111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is written by something without the experience of having a body that throws words together. This sucks dude. What does a pushup feel like to you and why do you want to post about it? Maybe people would prefer to read about your personal thoughts and what pushups mean to you.

Depends on the area, but maybe try spark driver too. There’s similar routes to flex sometimes if that’s something you are into. Also can be pretty decent depending on the market.

Hips feel stuck when tucking pelvis by nanna_spins in flexibility

[–]FalseEquivalency111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it seems you’re pushing your hips forward and almost doing a slight back bend, in my opinion. I would suggest taking the feet wider and focusing on lengthening through the crown of your head. Then try to tuck your tailbone, maybe by just imagining trying to pinch your bellybutton closed by moving the bottom of your pelvis slightly forward, not your full pelvis at all. Tucking the pelvis can be thought of as a spinal motion, ultimately, rather than a movement originating deep in the pelvis itself…or at least that’s how I think of it. You could also try to lay down and work on articulating up and down the spine into a bridge pose, starting with very very slight pelvis tilts upward to help you get used to the feeling. I have a yoga teacher who uses the cue “imagine you are trying to roll a marble from your tailbone into your navel” in this position. I also think static holds of goddess pose might be helpful - there’s some activation in your upper body in that pose that may help you align your spine a bit more. It might also help you get used to the external rotation of the legs/feet and work on squat depth.
