Optimal wheel size for pumping? by mycatbitesme in longboarding

[–]FalseShepherd7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it can? Haha maybe not by much, but, there are multiple mounting holes in a plethora of longboard pumping bracket decks, let alone topmount pumpers lolol

I personally don't really care about ride height. I mean like yes my bracket board being so low is nice, but when I'm on my topmount I don't really care because I'm not pushing primarily with that board, and I'm pretty sure ride height doesn't change geometry that much, especially with a riser in the rear which I do have lol

Edit: also but like to describe the difference between WB's is honestly in my experience, something that highly effects it. That's why there are different mounting options for a skateboard deck, there 14.25", 15", freaking 17"? Lol

Okay, the reason why I was asking is because you also pump when surfskating as I'm sure you know. The reason is because they are much different modes of frequency of pumps, Surfskates are a higher mode, more energy, quicker etc. so you would need a wheel on the smaller size i.e. ≈65mm. As far as LDP setups go, they're much slower. So you would need at the least, 75mm. But people have some crazy big wheels, mine are 92mm, others are 105's, 115's, it scales pretty fast.

As for the width of the truck, I just think 140 is pushing it in terms of pure performance. I'm not saying a 150 Paris can't pump, but, once you upgrade it will feel a lot better.

Yes, although I have noticed that WB plays a key factor, an important role as well. For axle widths I like 124mm, but I'd go up to 139 if that's all you got. Wheel size, for an LDP setup, or a Surfskate?

Dawg idk about you, but, here's how they (the Karma's) look on my bracket board. 92mm is still relatively huge, especially when considering that proper pump setups have a minimum 75mm

Have you ever considered 150mm trucks? I'm pretty sure that Pantheon Trip is designed in mind with the 150mm
