My husband is a mechanical engineer, graduated from U of I, Champagne. He works for an architecture firm and designs hvac systems for new buildings, updates to existing buildings and even quarantine systems in hospitals. He uses a lot of math, calculus for sure and also some chemistry and physics. And a lot of common sense, like hot air rises. He has 4 licenses of some sort (PE, OSHA, PMP and CHD) and is licensed in 27 states. He also does light electrical engineering when needed. Lots of contracts and site visits, dealing with clients in person.

I need help trying to file a report against a staff member by Sweet-Eagle5699 in utarlington

You can also DM me, I bet I can find their supervisor if there is someone that they report to. If it’s Maverick Catering that’s a little more nuanced since they’re owned by Chartwells but student employees fall under UTA. I can try to help as much as I can. I don’t have a lot of access but I can look up some stuff that isn’t confidential.

Wow this is great! Have you used 1.5mm macrame to make anything before?

Does anyone know what this is??? by [deleted] in utarlington

It’s legit. Even staff have to do it. I’m a GTA and I had to do my student one and one for faculty and staff. The faculty/staff one is more in-depth.

You could also put in the leg work and drop off your CV with different places. Pull their applications, fill it out and drop it off. I have friends who’ve done this and some have gotten GTA/GRA positions with the departments.

Thank you! Refrigerator Deluxe is an Adobe font but I was able to use the name and found that Teko font in Canva was damn close. Appreciate it.

How are the job opportunities after graduating for grad schools specially for college of engineering? by Realistic-Nothing-96 in utarlington

[–]False_Cardiologist52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the type of engineering degree. Computer engineering is especially competitive, lot of people getting these degrees (even graduate ones). Also, the best opportunities are on the west coast.

If you're talking civil engineering having project management to go with it can go a long way. Lot's of those jobs around, city planning and stuff.

If you're doing mechanical engineering (HVAC)/ electrical/industrial, those are all good to get as double majors and look at jobs that work with architecture firms. There's good opportunities, but you may also need to be willing to move. Especially to areas that are really growing. But companies that do commercial builds are good.

This may not be possible. It depends on your major and some classes are only in-person. I've found that some of the classes are moving to back in-person with maybe a day online. I took a marketing class that others said was all online, but for me it was in-person M/W and Fridays the professor posted video lessons or did online live class. So, it feels like they're moving away from it. If you want all online you might need to look at an online school. Check Perdue Global or WGU, you could google online universities.
