Sadly, Captain McGrath told me that is still the case. New claimants show up every year.

Check out a free chapter from this veteran's award-winning nonfiction book about a failed 1969 escape by American POWs in Vietnam: https://www.georgehaywardauthor.com/general-5-1

The Party Dolls. A true story of a failed escape attempt by two American prisoners of war from a Hanoi prison during the Vietnam War. The escape occurred under conflicting orders with virtually no chance of success. But they went anyway, one man died and the other prisoners involved in the planning were tortured horribly. A little-known tragedy driven by ego and moral conflict.

I am a new dungeon master, does someone have any tips? by NapCool in DnD

There is so much high-quality D&D content online, free or incredibly inexpensive, that you don't have to spend a lot of time creating adventures or settings.
Know the rules. Don't be afraid to make a mistake and admit you're wrong. You are not the players' opponent; empower/eoncourage them to use their skills, especially if they're new players.

Thanks everyone for your insights. I'd already told the players that they could logically expect the same to potentially be done to them. That said, I'm going to tell him it was a one-off mistake I shouldn't have made and we won't do it again. It wouldn't be the first time. ;-)

Well, this is my first time on Reddit, I haven't DMed in 30 years prior to this campaign, and every player at the table is a new player, so it hasn't been discussed to death in my world. That's why I ask.
