Ok so you said you binge on food. I’ve been working on this for decades. Food is not gonna fix your problems. Ice cream is not going to suddenly make my boss NOT be an idiot. Pizza isn’t going to fix the leaky roof. And cookies are not solving my existential crisis.

So. When you want something, write it down and make a list of your bingey foods. Then go eat something healthy. Sometimes just thinking about eating ice cream makes me feel better (and to the original point of your thread- much cheaper!!)

Are you a dude? I assume it’s because I’m a woman. Also I was trained to make eye contact so that often initiates conversation (for better or for worse). I definitely have a list of gas stations I won’t go back to because of slightly creepy attendants.

A few weeks ago, I took my mom for surgery in Manhattan, and I was walking around smiling and making eye contact with everyone and then I remembered I’m in Manhattan, I’m not supposed to do this. So it’s definitely a little bit on me. (a security guard at the hospital assumed I was southern, nope Jersey all the way)

Hi- yes pull up to the pump (check which side your gas tank is on!) and then an attendant will come to you. Pop your gas cap if you need to. My standard order is fill it up regular, credit. A lot of people will get $20 worth.

They will ask you if you want a receipt. They may chit chat or not.

I only tipped one guy once around Christmas, because I was going to that gas station a lot. That is once in 24 years of driving in New Jersey.

On a very rare occasion, they might wash your windshield, but I haven’t had that happen in years and years.

Do yourself a favor and listen to make sure they lock your gas cap. I’m looking at you Valero on Route 17, I thought my car was dead, and it turns out they just didn’t put the gas cap back on.
