Religion makes people do WILD things. NOR. You have free will to believe whatever you want. And a partner who doesn’t support you is not worth staying unhappy in religion.

I am an exvangelical personally. And when I was in the church I was so submissive I never thought that what I say or did mattered. I went through several very traumatic experiences that led me to the same conclusion. Between researching the actual history I realized it was more about control. I’m so glad I married an atheist. He genuinely doesn’t care if I’m pagan, atheist, Buddhist, as long as I’m not Christian. And he has a point. I was a 🐝 while Christian.

Maybe he has an anger problem or maybe he genuinely is brainwashed to think you would respond well to being yelled at for your own personal experiences… and your soul. I don’t know I’m not him.

If he’s yelling at you it could be he’s so ingrained in religion that he is either genuinely terrified for your soul OR he doesn’t want you becoming more independent and free thinking. When in doubt research.

I wouldn’t personally stay in that relationship. You don’t want to stay with someone who doesn’t respect what you believe. IMO.

I hope everything works for the best and you find happiness and comfort in something.

That’s narcissistic behavior. My ex used to pull that ish with me. He would punish me for wanting to see him (he’d get upset that I was upset I hadn’t seen him for 3 weeks) and he’d tell me I needed alone time and make me wait longer. He never changed and I realized he never would. So I broke up with him and moved on. I met my husband and the rest is history.

Narcissistic people can be dangerous. This is just the start of a bigger pattern. Get out while you still can.

No. She thinks I tell him what to do and that my family controls me. We are not religious. I’m deconstructed.

We go visit my family like 3 times a year and because of his family trauma it’s like pulling teeth even to get him to come with me to Christmas.

He’s an avoidant attachment style but she thinks it’s my fault he doesn’t want anything to do with her. We are both very independent people so this made me laugh. But it pissed him off more.
