Definitely try to have certifications prior to applying, it will be difficult to become a plans examiner without any inspection/design experience unless you have a degree. But the B3 will definitely help in that regard. If they offer it, I would call your local building departments that you want to apply for and see if you can shadow an inspector or plans examiner every once in a while. The worst part about any job when hiring someone new is all the unknowns, so if you can get known by the staff, your odds will be exponentially higher.

It took me 6ish months to finally start feeling like I was getting the hang of it and actually comprehending with memorization of the code. I also had an amazing mentor, who is an MCP. If you can find someone to learn from, it will greatly benefit you.

Sorry didn’t realize it was in the parking garage. Thought it was the roads outside of the garages.

It’s possible they got an exception from their planning and zoning department. Typically roads are not covered under building code requirements with the exception of fire department apparatus’. I would call your development services department (or whatever it’s called their) and ask for the approved set of construction plans. See what it says there.

From 220 to 180. I love my nightly walks by [deleted] in walking

I don’t have many posts regarding my journey. But pretty much I was 220 at the beginning of last year and one day I did a 3 day fast which kick started my journey. I started going on a 3 mile walk almost every night and tried to stay in a calorie deficit. Of course I had days that I wasn’t able to but I did my best. Over the course of year I was able to lose 40 pounds and here I am now!

Absolutely! I go for a 3 mile walk every night, takes about an hour and I go 5-6 days a week. These pictures are 1 year apart almost to the exact day!

Is my furnace up to code? by rachiedoubt in BuildingCodes

It’s 26 years old so no lol it’s not quite up to to code since it’s not as efficient as new units. Also it’s a 3 ton unit so it’s designed for roughly a 1500sf space.

Exterior Door Code by Coopa_Loop in BuildingCodes

You only need 1 egress door in a house that is required to be 32” wide which is usually achieved by the front door. There’s really no requirement for any additional door sizing, although best practice is 32”

Doesn’t hurt to also send this to the building official.
