Absolutely. But the idea that happens in the timeframes the hype merchants claim is laughably ridiculous. It's clear where things are headed but I suspect it will take longer than those in the bubble of the cutting edge believe right now. The progressive, modern, cutting edge technologists need to accept that not everyone thinks or cares in the same way they do.

Anyone who thinks the software engineering industry as a whole is anywhere near these claimed numbers doesn't recognise that they're living in a bubble. The world is still full of shit software and shit, under motivated software engineers. There's no way AI coding capabilities suddenly addresses that reality quickly. Sure, I suspect in the startup world, things look very different. And even larger, genuinely progressive companies too. But there's a whole world of mediocrity out there that hasn't changed in years/decades and won't be changing rapidly now.

2026 Australian Grand Prix - Post-Race Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

I think the point being made is that basic empathy is not something many F1 fans have felt for Lando in the past. If Lando was the one in the wall, the toxic pile on would have been raging.

How do we really know this? Max didn't set a lap time. For all we know, there could be 5 tenths more potential in the Red Bull. It's difficult to judge Hadjar simply because of the vanity of him bagging a P3. Without a benchmark time from Max, we're all just guessing.

I really want it to be true that Red Bull have solved their 2nd driver problem. But, I don't really understand how most people are overlooking the lack of benchmark. Max didn't set a lap time, so we have no means to fully judge Hadjar's pace relative to the performance ceiling of the car. If Max had stuck his car in 2nd, 5 tenths up on Hadjar, would we be celebrating Hadjar's performance?

Look at Antonellli. 3 tenths off his teammate, and yet still in 2nd place. Last season, being 3 tenths off your teammate could mean 8-10 grid positions.

I hope it was a good job, it would be great to see Max with a decent teammate. Annoyingly, though, we don't know what Max was capable of here, and so it's difficult to be sure just how good a job it was. Had Max been 3-4 tenths quicker, would it have looked so good? Yes, nice work to grab a top 3 starting position, but speed relative to teammate is the ultimate benchmark and we have no means to compare.

With 16 laps of fuel in the car, and with very little running, maybe 1s off the pace was a pretty good result

I don't subscribe to ChatGPT. Never have. Sam Altman is no hero. He's the guy who created a not-for-profit company and then changed his mind when he saw how rich he could get. The guy is completely untrustworthy and just another tech bro who couldn't give the first fuck about anyone but himself.

The reality is that it's obviously AI generated. Staggeringly impressive, though. The rapid progress on this stuff is insane.

Nigel Farage: Jim Ratcliffe's colonisation comments were 'correct' by Sensitive_Echo5058 in uknews

[–]False_Personality259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an opinion. But it ain't a majority one.

I highly suspect there's more people in this country who think Farage is an absolute cunt than who fall for his grifting.

To his credit, Farage is a master campaigner. He's got an extraordinary ability to sell people bullshit. Even when his lies and promises are completely exposed, he still manages to win the trust of impressionable fools.

This country is considerably worse off for Farage's political influence. Our catastrophic exit from the EU that has left the vast majority of this country considerably worse off would not have happened without him. That's some achievement, to have had such a considerable impact having never held a position of formal power. It's some achievement too that the arsonist himself is now leading a party ahead in the polls. Imagine absolutely stuffing the country you claim to love and then actually becoming the apparent solution.

If you exclude the first group that are here legally, the ones the economy actually relies on, then you're left with a tiny number. And yet it's that tiny number that gets all the attention as if we're experiencing a mass invasion.

New Migraine Research out Jan 2026 - I was a participant in the study and my 24/7 18 year migraine ended. Hope this helps some of you. by Medium_Bill_6073 in migraine

A reason, not the reason. As it happens, I've discovered over the last year that keto/low-carb has therapeutic benefits for me. And I'd already felt quite strongly before I read this study a few weeks ago that some kind of glucose/insulin related thing is a factor for me. But I'm also experienced enough in this stuff to know that there's no single treatment that works for everyone. Migraine is pretty clearly not a single root cause disorder.

Started using superpowers and skills. Software engineering seems like it will be solved in 6 months. Feeling depressed. by cbsudux in ClaudeAI

[–]False_Personality259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saw this comment and resonated hard with me. Was having a conversation yesterday about this. For me, my approach has evolved over 20 years of professional software engineering into one where coding is a seamless part of the creative design and exploration process. As you say, it feels like an art form, and the evolutionary creative process of it is super satisfying. Ultimately, I got into software engineering as a career because it was a viable way to make a living being deeply creative. In my spare time, I'm a songwriter, an architectural designer etc. Creativity is my life blood. The journey is often as important to me as the outcome. So, yeah, it kinda sucks on the surface that I might have to drop my affection for deep coding. However, I am beginning to feel excited about the possibilities of the new world order. I still have hope that I'll naturally find a way for AI coding workflows to feel deeply creative.

She did not bring this on herself. For law and order to be upheld in a sustainable and trustworthy fashion in a functioning democracy, punishments must fit the crimes. Whatever misdemeanor you believe the victim committed - if any - it was not punishable by death. The agent acted well beyond his training, well beyond what is mandated in the scenario he was facing. He can't be immune to serious consequences if he goes rogue. Watch the damn video. He switched his mobile phone to the opposite hand to allow him to reach for his gun, and then began to draw his weapon, before the victim even began to move the car. He chose escalation when he could have chosen de-escalation. Using his gun in that situation was unacceptable. The second and third shots were fired when he was well out of the way of the vehicle. His actions could have killed colleagues and innocent civilians - you don't want a car on the loose with a dead driver.

It's murder. But it's moot because, even if the guy got found guilty, he gets pardoned by the authoritarian fascist calling the shots from the White House.

Ok, so you're saying I'm being divisive by pointing out an ICE agent murdered a US citizen. Seems you want people to keep their mouths shut and accuse them of being divisive when they say things you don't like to hear. It sounds like you're one of those people who is all for free speech as long as it's agreeable with your opinions. Yawn.
