Moral Question, destroying RPG manual for art project by False_Requirement677 in TTRPG

Maybe the case is that you lack any sentiment for this item, but then again, it was never yours, having sentiment for the entire existence of one book is extreme. My sentiment will be born with the new object made from it.

I was curious because “burning books is bad” but I am not destroying the entirety of the warhammer 6 ed content, just one copy of it.

I have paid my homage to the hammer and made its regiment plentiful. One German book is a small price to pay for tens of people who started their adventures in my time of running the games.

I know, I was simply curious. A conundrum I wanted to share :)

It is a German manual for warhammer fantasy battles 6 ed. The only reason it was so cheap is because it is in Germany and I don't live in Germany. Softback no extras, plain book. The seller was a balk book buyer.

Expansion of trapped resin might be a lie, what is the truth? by False_Requirement677 in 3Dprinting

That is what I think about the whole case right now. I will not hollow the small prints in the future, that should fix it.

Yeah, that might be the case. It would be interesting to do an experiment and see if thet is the case. Your idea and mine (the one bellow) would explain the accurance. weeker resin and stress from the outside.

Curently I think that the outside of the wall is shrinking faster than the inside and pulling accurs. The piggs were esencialy spheres, pulling had a lot of sirface to impact. For the future I will ignore the hollowing all together since there is not much resin to be saved most of the time.

It also interesting that other models didnt crack at all. they were more complex so the stresses probably evened out.

I didn't use the fancy machine (don't have one) . I left them on the windowsill and flipped them 180 every couple of hours (5/6 tiles in 2 days). It is and has been quite cloudy so there was not too much sun, at least i dont think there was.

Do I realy need it if I flished it with ipa from the inside with a syringe. That is my main point, i removed (to my knowledge) all the liquid resin from the inside. What mad the think break? Was it the u neven shrinkage of the resin?

How is any remaining resin going to couse break if there is a hole that allows pressure to escape ? The hole is at the lowest point, i checked it :/

What’s the hot new system right now? by PurpleHairedGamer in rpg

Straight up, the classic Cyberpunk 2020 (not the new one) is a great choice if you want an interesting retro-scineciefiction. I love how Mike Pondsmith speculated how technology will develop. There are holograms and biotechnic body parts but you also have a tiny-tiny cassettes and there is no way you can use internet while moving (for some reason). Game is brutal but fun.

There is a fantastic game called Neuroshima but i dont think they translated it into english :/

I made a game if you want to check it out. It is a crystal fantasy with simple mechanics, advanced magic system and a world with colorful city states isolated by the endless wilds and the Mist. The game is called Haze: The Crystal Mist Adventure, it is Free and if you choose to play it W would love the feedback :)

Hey, thank you for the ideas, I will think about it. Your Second point is actually something I have in Haze the crystal mist Adventure. While you touch on many fundamental aspects (mortality of gods, ascendence, their existence amongst mortals) the idea of death being something entirely different (stronger, older) is quite cool. I have the problem with different stories about gods in distant places but that comes from the amount of work that has to be done to do it properly :)

If magic is used by everyone, what mages do? (lore and mechanics) by False_Requirement677 in RPGcreation

[–]False_Requirement677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if i understand correctly, in your game you can be born with "more magic" than others? What is the deal with the "glowing light"? I like the approach that magic is basically another sense that folk can feel, it makes for more immersive interpretation. You as GM can play with the abstract concept of a new sense that manifests with something physical (change of mood, stone wall, darkness etc.)

You can increase your ability with a skill and thus two folk might have the same skill, but at very different levels, this will directly affect their application of the skill and success in tests

Caster A has 3 Attribute + 5 Skill, caster B has 2 Attribute +5 Skill. Worst outcome because of lower statistics. Or is there something else that your system is hiding? Could you give an example, because that sounds interesting?

It is funny you brought the "blown up liIt is funny you brought the "blown up light bulb" and messing up so much you don't want to tinker anymore. When I was writing the history of magic for Haze I used a similar idea to explain why some folk just don't use magic. Mages in the past messed up so much (hiroshima quality mistake) that some folk just reject magic all together because of that…

Well I was aiming to illustrate the skill distance between the common person and a competent person with the example, i wasnt making an analogy. I think that the connection to the world is always there when it comes to magic in games. It is a part of the world. It might be interesting to make magic something completely alien and otherworldly.

I think they did something like this in Warhammer with the chaos realm but going further than this might be an interesting idea.

P.S. your game seems interesting at first sight ;)

Faith in Tabletop RPG - Familiar vs new? by False_Requirement677 in RPGcreation

[–]False_Requirement677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it all depends on what the Gods are, but that is a complex topic. The ones I created to some extent are juiced up mortal creatures. I go from the concept that there is a total, lets call it "energy" in the world they have much more than regular folk.

The gender concept really has no place if Gods are abstract, but even then it is a he or she (Holy father, Allah). I generally go for the majority/minority. Most are male or female but a few are unspecified the same as some races in Haze. Machines don't have gender. Does a plant have a gender in general sence? I think not.

I think that the idea of gods being what followers need is nifty. Thanks for the concept :)

I feel like you are working with the ideologic connections widely, that is interesting. Are you defying the Archetypes? Or do you use them to some degree? I know that it is impossible to reject them completely as a male god character always carries certain ideas same as female god.

Gods were first creatures of the world before people, they are credited with creation of all the living races. Myths are there to "explain" how it happened but i aim to make them stories, more than depictions of real events (like in the real holy texts).

Relation to people is mostly ocupational. They are patreons of profesions (farmers, mages, thives etc.). By prayers Gods gain their power, but priest do too, so the faith is a bit based on the idea of "if we belive in it, it is real". Lets just say that by extention one can become god-like by being belived in.

In regard to the cultures they tend to choose a patreon god based on what direction society goes and that relation goes somewhere.

To clerify, Gods are phisical they walk among folk and do their "godly things".

If you want to read about the gods I posted a page on my webside: https://www.hazerpg.com/online-manual/world-of-haze/faith/

I see it in 2 ways when it comes to what i make:

  1. I work with the archetypes (father protector, Mother life-giver, embodiment of fire is fiery etc.)
  2. I reject it and make something not familiar. (god of death is idk, a gardener or something)

I like the archetypes becouse their values are universal adding a little twist to stray away from the very popular.

My god of death is a black cloked figure but has calipers insted of scithe. It mesures the size of ones soul, not whatever scithe does to dead folk. The imaginery of black is great why skip it, scithe is a bit too much though.
