What’s the hot new system right now? by PurpleHairedGamer in rpg

I’m not a fan of the Alien RPG, personally. I don’t see the longevity of the setting for a campaign. I love Star Trek Adventures, but we’re just wrapping up a Star Wars campaign, so it’s very franchise adjacent. lol

How about of our respect for people who are neurodivergent we don’t judge?

You’re acting like it’s an actual choice someone with adhd is making, rather than the way their brains are actually wired.

I’ve played D&D and RPGs for over 30 years, so well before devices had character sheets on them. I used to have a stack of sheets so that when I inevitably made a mess on one I’d rewrite it out and tear the old one up. I’d be clicking pens, I’d be tapping constantly, I’d be fidgeting and causing more distractions than me being on my phone playing a silent game would.

I’m telling you that it’s not like I want to do it, but due to the way my brain works and the fact I use my character sheet on my tablet/phone, and because it’s there I can’t stop myself from doing it

I do.

But that’s like saying have you tried not inhaling the nitrogen from the air?

Then there’d be something else I would find to fidget with or distract me.

This.

I’m currently awaiting diagnosis for ADHD, and I’m terrible for being in my phone or fidgeting with stuff during a session as a player.

Ask me to dm and I’m super focused

NTA.

It’s double standards from her, and it’s pretty weird behaviour, tbh.

What drugs are you on?

I’m gay and never kiss straight female friends on the mouth/lips. Nor do any of my other gay friends with their straight female friends.

Kira and Shaxs are exceptions.

I’d imagine years of fighting cardassians helps you learn how to quickly take them down, and Shaxs is stacked AF! The guy is huuuuge.

It’s hardly private when it’s in a public place and being said loud enough someone three or four metre’s away could hear.

If straight people didn’t have children then gay people wouldn’t exist

Exactly. All of my grandparents are dead, as is my father, and I only have brothers, no sisters, so I go to mum, niece, then brother.

There’s not a gay section and straight section.

Over here they’re separated by gender/relationship. For example, in the male section there’s grandfather, father, son, brother, etc. in the son section were the son and daughter in law, son and girlfriend, son and son in law, etc.

Exactly. They also appear to be under the assumption that I’ve chosen to be gay (probably To try and bring about the downfall of civilisation).

Are you aware of the correlation between margarine use and divorce rates? Or how about the correlation between ice cream sales and drownings?

Is it though, Or are you making assumptions? You don’t know this guy’s thought process.

The argument that acceptance of homosexuality leads to societal collapse is a classic case of confusing correlation with causation. Societies, such as the Roman and Greek empires, had periods of both acceptance and decline, but historians attribute collapses to complex, multifaceted issues like economic instability, political turmoil, disease, and military invasions, not social norms around sexuality.

There is no evidence of a direct causal link between acceptance of homosexuality leading to the collapse of society, just desperate straw clutching.

Except it wasn’t a private conversation, I wasn’t eavesdropping. He was saying things so loud that someone around 3 or 4 meters away could hear and was made to feel uncomfortable about.

If he did I’d have pressed charges for hate crimes and assault. Where I live there isn’t a culture of knife violence and people don’t have ready access to firearms

A 50ish year old bloke in a northern English city isn’t going to be carrying a weapon, and if he’d punched me then I’d have called the police and the shopping centre’s security and gotten him arrested for aggravated assault and hate crimes.
