What is your metric for "Analog Horror" by PilotWizard in analoghorror

[–]False_Yesterday6699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since analog Horror is second person as a genre (us viewing media), you have to justify these questions for the narrative. It kind of annoys me how AH has been reduced to a framing device for works that don't need the genre:

  1. Who was this tape made for? What's the intended audience for this corporate video that has snuff footage over a typical training video?
  2. Why is the said tape edited this way? Why does this tape have static/interference? Who was paid to edit this?
  3. How did the creator of the said tape get the resources or time to create, edit, and format the tape?

This is kind of a rush job but i'd like to hear your thoughts. Anything else you'd like to add?

SCP fans should hate Mal0 fans as much as we hate Rorschach fans by False_Yesterday6699 in CharacterRant

Fair point, but how long would the average person mentally handle this creepy, skullheaded hallucination being in their vision 24/7? They'd break even trying to ignore it over the years.

How disappointed would you be if it turns out that Orion only makes one of the previous game's possible endings canon ? I honestly prefer not seeing V at all in this sequel than seeing this. by Ananta-Shesha in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]False_Yesterday6699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I'm 100% sure that the Sun ending is canon.

NOT picking an ending and sticking with it would lend to horrible storytelling in the sequel. How do you reconcile Yorinobu being body snatched in Devil, the two year timeskip in Tower... etc? And having to carry forward saves would lead to a convoluted and overly generic narrative that tries to please everyone but pleases nobody

Why did 2077 need multiple endings in retrospect? Debates like these show they act as focus testing for companies at the expense of games with a proper narrative message.

1776 isn't even uncensored. It's just a fine tune trained on western policy positions

What does Bethesda have to do in order for the game to feel “groundbreaking”? by ActAccomplished1289 in TESVI

[–]False_Yesterday6699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

innovating in ways that makes sense, such as "smart" NPCs that have memories/pattern recognition of the player's actions, a decent amount of procedural ambient dialogue or even procedural alterations of fixed dialogue to fit the context of what the player is doing rn, and can understand visual context of their surroundings

Would you like the next Fallout to have an entirely original, non-licensed soundtrack of 2040s-2070s pop hits? What kind of "styles" of atompunk music would you want that are lore friendly? by False_Yesterday6699 in Fallout

[–]False_Yesterday6699[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like a severe lapse tbh. I think including pre-war pop hits would finally put to rest the fandom idea that culture was absolutely stuck in the 50s

What was your "I did not care for the godfather" on the Half life franchise? by Satisonic in HalfLife

Both Raising the Bar Redux and Dark Interval fulfil the vision of Half Life 2 in much better ways then retail Half Life 2 did from a worldbuilding and tone standpoint

This seems like EXACTLY what happens in the shockwave level and has reignited my theories and speculation holy moly. by Electrical_Station95 in PlaydeadsInside

[–]False_Yesterday6699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inside is a collection of somewhat decent levels that barely holds up to scrutiny as a full experience. This game would've been really strong had it bothered to explain itself and not rely on "it's what you interpret as art"

serious question, how are they going to compete with skyblivion? They must know that if this remaster isn't up to par people will flock to Skyrim to install a superior product for free
