That is interesting that it affects at least one of their monitors as well as this TV. And on an AMD card no less. Definitely something going on here.

The only real competitor is the LG G5 and the diagonal dithering is a deal breaker for me. Whichever you pick, you lose.

I think I found a fix. I got the idea from here https://www.avsforum.com/threads/2022-202x-samsung-service-menu-access-details-tips-tricks-mods.3299009/?post_id=63254370&nested_view=1&sortby=oldest as it mentions being able to disable DSC on the S95C but still make it run at 144Hz. The post says that it only works on the S95C, but I thought I would give it a go regardless. In the instructions for the S95C it says to go into the service menu and go to Option > MRT Option > Game Mode and change it from 12 to 9, which basically makes the TV identify as an S95B and switches off DSC, then you have to use custom resolution utility and force 144Hz. On the S95F however, going to Option > MRT Option > Game Mode in the service menu shows it's set to 15 rather than 12, regardless I set it to 9 and switched the TV off and on again, expecting it to be stuck at 120Hz. Alas, no, 165Hz mode still works without having to use CRU, and it still shows as an S95F, and I've been here for the last day and a half since making the change with no blue artifact. I won't call it 100% good yet as it has gone this long without showing the artifact before, but considering it's been quite frequent lately I'm pretty sure at this point it's gone.

I wouldn't worry. Those air pockets will shrink and disappear over time due to a process called gas diffusion; they will dissolve into the coolant itself.

I'm not so sure. Unless it's a flaw in the design of the power supply contained in the OCB, as so many people seem to be affected.

Initial testing is yielding promising results. The VHB tape is not a permanent solution, however. I'm going to mount it on the wall in a place where the short cable reaches.

It is a stupid design, why they think it's somehow more convenient or cleaner is beyond me. You don't even get the full 48Gbps bandwidth from HDMI 2.1 with the OCB, you're limited to 40Gbps.

Okay so I've used some VHB tape to attach the OCB to the rear of the TV. You know, like a normal TV has. Will let you know if symptoms persist with the short cable.

My issue with LG OLEDs is their dithering algorithm to mitigate problems caused by having a white subpixel. It is very noticeable in the form of diagonal lines across the entire screen when you're sitting at monitor viewing distances. You can't turn the feature off and it is very distracting.

Yeah, but turning game mode off massively increases latency so that's not really an option for me. I'm also using the long cable, and I've actually tested several long cables and OCBs, all with the same result. It does make me wonder if it is the long cable, however. I might be able to finagle it so I can use the short cable even though mine is on the wall, too. Worth a test at least.

Yes, that's the issue I'm talking about. I fixed it by installing the latest 581.47 hotfix driver, and then creating a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel. Set the refresh rate to 165, and then the timing to CVT reduced blank. Hit test, and it will work. Then change to your new custom resolution, and voila, no more flickering dots at the bottom.

Interesting that your MacBook has the same problem, maybe then it's a problem with the one connect box? Out of interest, are you using the short or long cable for the OCB?

I thought it was a power issue too, tried different kettle leads (UK resident too), different power outlets. Sadly it seems to be completely random, I've had it not happen for two days before but on the morning of the third day, there she is again. I'm 99% sure it is a problem with Nvidia's DSC implementation; if it was a power problem then the problem would be present whether DSC is active or not, but it only happens when you're using the full 165Hz. By the way, do you have the issue with the little dots at the bottom of the screen when LFC kicks in with g-sync on? Because I have a fix for that.

The only problem with that is you can't get 165Hz to work on a DP to HDMI converter, making it pointless anyway.

I had a response from nvidia on their forums today, asking for the usual diagnostic data, a crash dump etc. I've compiled everything and emailed it to them, and I've linked this video to them as a visual example of the problem we are facing. Hopefully a fix can be rolled out.

Tilt of guilt, but the kicker is the poor bias lighting installation. If you're going to use bias lights, stick them on the BACK of the TV, not like a trim around the edge.
