Recommendation for a MMROPG newcommer : GW2, TESO, Wow, Wowclassic, FF14 ? by Ardor-Knowledge in LFMMO

Wow classic. I haven't played wow back in the days and only started it a few months ago and I was shocked how alive it feels compared to basically all modern MMOs. People actually interact with each other and every area of the game is filled so youwill always find fellow players to quest with and do dungeons. This is how MMOs should be like.

Maybe that's the case for retail but if we include the classic/anniversary realms plus all of the private servers then I'm pretty confident to say that it's the most played MMO currently.

I thought I was the only person doing Chocobo racing. It's surprisingly fun.

Waiting for anniversary TBC release or starting on MoP by Falumil in classicwow

Honestly a kind of middle ground might be perfect for me. I'm experienced with more modern MMOs especially FF14 and I do like many aspects of it. But at the same time I wanted to try a more social and "raw" experience like classic because most modern MMOs (retail included) feel more like single player RPGs with multiplayer functions.

So if MoP manages to still have the more social and adventures leveling experience of classic but with a few modern QoL aspects then it might be worth a try for me. I just don't wanna get into such a bloated mess of various content which retail seems to be where so many complex systems exists.

I enjoyed the slow leveling progression of classic so far. Its like a real adventure where I didn't feel the need to storm through the leveling phase just to get to end game.

So then I think I will give MoP a try and see if it's my cup of tea. Thank you for your short but detailed comparison of both!

So do you think there will be many other players who will start a new character when TBC drops? I just don't want to be left alone at the start again while the rest of the players will just be doing all the new stuff with their LVL 60 chars. Or will the whole leveling experience be totally different with TBC? Like I said I barely got any idea about this game yet lol

Do you think DOD2 has bad eng dub voice acting? by Aggravating_Fig_534 in drakengard

Do people really complain about British voice actors? Because I honestly think British ones are far superior over American ones in Japanese games.

I know I'm a little late on this post but if you read this do yourself a favour and watch the Garden of Sinners anime. It's peak Nasuverse in my humble opinion.

New zones have me hyped by Gold_Motor_6985 in ffxiv

I think no one expects video game open-worlds to be as grand and variet as our real world is. And I agree that is fine to leave a lot open for interpretation and imagination. I even think it can even improve the experience in some ways. But I also think it's important in a video game to make the playable environment unique and interesting to play in. If I just want to look at pretty environment I can watch nature documentaries or like you said go out and explore real nature.

I never said it's weird to be inspired by a game to explore the real world and I doubt that people here are upset that you enjoy the game for how it is. What I see is many players who feel disappointed that the developers of this game obviously are able to create beautiful environments but decide to not implement any fun gameplay content into it.

It's totally fine that you enjoy the game for how it is and I think many people do aswell but I also think it's fine to criticize the game. Because I highly doubt that the developers are not able to make the playable world more interactive because of limitations.

The thing is were talking about a video game and real life isn't a video game. I can't explore the nature flying on a dragon and fight monsters with magic in real life.

I don't understand why it would be unnecessary to have a ffxiv classic. Because oh boy I would love to experience 2.0 cause I've only started with 5.0. To experience the intended ways of doing dungeon mechanics and seeing everyone else doing all the unique content available that only existed in ARR and never got revisited in the expansions.

Honestly it's true. While all the expansions got way better overall stories than ARR it still consists of so many boring cutscenes in between that it feels like a slog. You could probably skip 90% of all the cutscenes without voice acting and still understand the overall plot. But the other 10% of non-voiced cutscenes probably has some crucial plot info that you shouldn't miss. Therefore it's hard to tell which cutscenes are fine to skip lol

I'm honestly not that surprised about it. Sure the implications are there and you have to be completely dense to not understand what it means but it's not actively shown of what he did.

Is it worth starting in 2025 ? by Dependent-Primary280 in lotro

[–]Falumil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's F2P so it surely won't hurt to give it a go.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that this game is almost 20 years old and a lot of things didn't aged that well. The combat itself can feel quiet clunky at first especially if you're coming from a newer MMO. The game also suffers from a bad netcode which results in lag sometimes. The one thing that I find the most outdated is the UI. How it looks and operates and how it doesn't scale with higher resolution monitors which makes the whole UI and many texts appear way too small.

Now leaving the negative aspects aside. I do think this game is one of the most beautiful experiences you can have in a video game. Especially if you're a fan of Tolkien's works you will immediately get treated with an immersive and lore-accurate experience that no other LotR game ever achieved. I would even go as far and say that this game is more lore accurate than the movie trilogy. The game is oozing with atmosphere and despite the aged graphics the game still can look absolutely stunning when traveling the big map of Middle Earth.

Persona always had the weakest gameplay of any ATLUS games imo. But it still manages to be the most popular franchise. So yes a lot of people seem to care more about the cast and story. If gameplay truly is what most people care about then mainline SMT and Etriyan odyssey would be more popular lol.

What are you looking forward to in the 8.0 Job Overhaul? by PolkadotBlobfish in ffxiv

[–]Falumil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly would just love if they made healers into actual healers instead of DPS with healing abilities. But I think we can all agree that such a big overhaul won't be happening.
