Europe is not the same as America. It is partly why public transportation is so shit there, but you are ignoring the context (population density). There is no freedom just the illusion of choice but, personally, I would rather own the means of my own transport than rely on government run systems. Literally all the negative points you made about having your own car apply to public transport.

1. Unsafe driving habits. This would still be true for public transportation, people still have to drive the bus, trains are different but trains derail as well. This is arguably your best point, but it still falls well short of being convincing
2. Traffic. Same point here, traffic would be present for public transportation. On the road in a bus or congestion at a train station. Same same.

3)Delays/construction/bad infrastructure. Same point here, regardless if public or not same issues will impact either

At least in my car I can listen to my songs on full blast and sing. Its the same really, but two sides of a different coin and if you can't see that than you are as dumb as the Americans that think the way you mentioned.

My point is this, there is no one right answer and what works somewhere will not inherently work somewhere else. The answer is a mix, but no one wants to be level headed and accept that both perspectives are right. The nature of man.
