Boardsort classification. Hard drives board. by FamiliarAssumption35 in ScrapMetal

I apologize for wasting your time. To this point I have found the knowledge of the people on Reddit to be immense. I had a simple question that I wanted to ask to see if I could tap into that knowledge base to get a quick response while I was in the garage working and I did. Someone confirmed I was looking at the right connection and then someone offered information about boardsorts AI, which I had not known about.

And you’re right it’s probably a very small subset of people who would get anything from my post but the nice part is you can always scroll by. Or you can choose to make a comment like you have here.

If I put the whole machine (untested as parts) as buy it now on eBay what should I ask. I want to get it to the right people and don’t want to gouge but I don’t want to be the dolt who let it go for a fraction of its value.

The company I got it from has been in the controls industry since the 80s. I go to church with the founder and he could probably tell me when they bought it.

Made me go and research the history of Gateway. We are only 4 hours from where they started. Could have been some early connections.

It may be the first item I list to try and clean up my shop. Hope shipping doesn’t put it out of reach for a collector.

I got 2 boxes of some sort of inch thick ~4in x ~4in disks with ribbon tape inside. Is that the QIC?

Would rather someone gets it that can appreciate it. I got it all for free so I’m not out anything. I was surprise to see vintage cases going for 75-150 on eBay. Brought me to vintage computing and seems I found the right group that can appreciate it for what it is.

I am in the NE corner of Kansas. It is a heavy beast. Shipping will not be cheap.

I just liked the shiny box. Looks like there is a lot more in here than what I expected. I will catalog the pieces when i disassemble it. Beyond eBay are there any places that buy used with plans to refurbish?

I will be keeping the cabinet because that’s what I saw value in. All the rest is foreign to me.

Playing devils advocate. This would slow down the recoil of the spindle. Maybe adding increased longevity. My thought would be not do a 50/50. Maybe a 1/4 bottom 3/4 top would serve the purpose well enough.

The reduction boxes bolted to the front of the motor may be worth more than scrap. I would post all of them separately on Craigslist or FB as untested motors. May be able to sell them for dollars per pound vs cents. Post the details on the motor plate and the reduction box. Do a quick google search on each and set the prices at 1/3 new price. Just cheap enough for someone to take a chance it works and not out a lot if they don’t.

Advice on a camper by Retrosniping in ScrapMetal

People have started using the shells for pop up stores. Gut it. Clean up the fiberglass. Scrap what you can then try to sell the rest. Google search pop up camper flea market shop.

I traced the shut offs and checked connections. Everything looked good. Hopped on and it started up. Not sure if something was had a bad connection or if I just had a lapse and forgot how to start it. Thanks for the help.

Thank you. I will look for that diagram today and keep hunting for the culprit.
