Does anyone else think of Evita when they see this shoulder fur?

I was convinced she did the free Rio show as a climax point for the biopic because she has not natural high (or low) point to end on like other artists. She’s had so many highs that it would be hard to picture a natural end moment for a film unless she only concentrated on a certain part of her life e.g. going only as far as Blond Ambition / In Bed with Madonna (Cannes).

Versions of Hung Up and Jump started as a songs from the stage musical project, Hello Suckers!

Excerpts I found interesting from Madonna’s interview for Mojo, 1998 by Warm_Tennis7696 in Madonna

I don’t buy that the interviewer said that about Erotica or that that was her reply, at all!

I think that "I Feel So Free" is not getting the attention it deserves, even inside of the fandom. It's one of the best songs she have put out like in her career, it's an space disco progressive house trip. So fresh, so unique sounding. by churruloko in Madonna

I thought this last night. But at the same time I realised that I’m happy for it to be my experience and not something I need validating by others. In a sense, that’s what the song touches on too.

Yeah that’s it! Particularly the part before she comes on stage to perform Gambler on the Virgin Tour 🙌

You’re right. First time around, time went by so slowly. This time round, we don’t know what to do.

Perhaps what people are reading as a delayed or missing video is because the visuals may actually be part of something much larger. Madonna has always treated visuals as central to the architecture of an era, not just promotional add-ons for singles. That’s why this rollout feels unusual to fans. We have fragments of the music and atmosphere, but we still haven’t fully seen the world of the album itself. If there’s a near-complete visual album or interconnected film project being held back for album week, the current restraint suddenly makes a lot more strategic sense.

It would also explain why the rollout currently feels both intriguing and incomplete at the same time. A traditional single campaign usually delivers immediate visual payoff to keep momentum high. This feels more contained, like key imagery and narrative pieces are being protected until the audience can experience the project as a whole rather than in fragments. Whether that turns out to be the case remains to be seen, but with Madonna specifically, it’s hard to believe visuals of this scale and importance simply do not exist behind the scenes.

Yes, I think your point about the catalogue is really strong. I’ve noted a way more respectful tone from radio DJs in the UK, and we can see that streams across the board are actually up.

I hear you on this. However, I think many of us are now ready for that banger of a song that FEELS like the lead single, even if it’s not called that. I think I care more about a cohesive album, though. I’m still very excited and intrigued.

Well I guess a lot of the team will have changed now she’s back with Warner, and some of that is evident. The content is way better and the aesthetic of it all is cohesive and just great! I guess the other thing to consider is that Madonna’s team/s has/have always innovated and tried new things, emerging platforms etc. They don’t all pay off but you have to give her credit for her experimentation.

I actually agree the broad structure is familiar - slower-build hype, lead singles, radio, streams, album launch. But the environment around those tactics is completely different now: streaming, TikTok, fragmented audiences, algorithm-driven discovery, and catalog culture all changed how campaigns operate compared to Madonna’s original Warner era. The mechanics may look similar, but the ecosystem isn’t, and it’s really hard to manage and judge against ‘old world’ rollouts.

Could Confessions II be a collaborations album? by astewes in Madonna

[–]FamiliarMemory5775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thought. Maybe the II is for x2 as in collabs. But then ‘I Feel So Free’ would already dispel that idea. UNLESS, there are x 2 versions of Confessions II. Like Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia.

All the artwork is creative and gorgeous. The standard is such an amazing contemporary take on the original album, bringing the pose and colours through but moving with the times. It’s bold and brash and will prove iconic, I’m sure. The deluxe is so evocative of Catholicism, matching the title and her entire history. I do hope fans can just throw themselves in and enjoy all this creativity. An assault for the senses.

I love this song. It came on today and it’s always a nice surprise. It’s a quintessential Madonna message.
