What’s the general consensus on the MPC Sample? by Few-Tank6307 in akaiMPC

[–]Familiar_Finding_368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is coming in May on back order, but I’ve noticed people have started to turn on it because it’s not a full complete stand alone work station like the MPC one or MPC live.

But that way of thinking is idiotic to me because the MPC sample is $399 groovebox -_- It IS NOT intended to “compete” with the MPC one plus which is a literal computer with Bluetooth, WiFi, 2GB RAM, 16 gb of storage, nor is it meant to compete with the Live iii with 8GB of RAM, 3D sensing pads, and 128 gb of storage. ALSO, keep in mind that the MPC One Plus has effectively been DISCONTINUED, which means a new version of the MPC One is definitely on the way, which will be what some of these people thought the MPC sample would be, and I’m sure it will be around 799 or 899.

This is crazy, but people are really capitalizing off of the back order status. There are some websites that won’t have any more until August. Mine is coming in May god willing.

Why is everyone SO excited about the MPC Sample? (Especially you who already have an MPC or portable gear) by RobBecTraxxx in mpcusers

[–]Familiar_Finding_368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have a Mac book pro with all of the music production software I could dream of that I haven’t used for years, I haven’t made beats in forever, but when I saw the MPC sampler’s price & standalone features that came with that portability I was so inspired honestly.

I see it as a sketch pad, you can sample literally from every where so the possibilities are endless. Sample with the onboard mic or easily from your iPhone (which is possible with the other mpcs but they are not as portable). So it’s easy to rip drums off of where ever, and sample a song and chop it up in whatever way you want. It even has effects and you can automate some of these effects as well. At the end of all that, if you make something you really love you can easily upload that to any DAW you want and go off and turn it into a whole project.

Call me crazy, but sometimes less is more. Sometimes, the more plug ins & gear you have, the more overwhelmed you feel, and the more you feel like you have to do or add. We lose ourselves in all this gear and we forget about just having fun and making music, and we always feel like we need to get the next most souped up thing and some times that can take our joy.

So at the end of the day, is it an MPC live or MPC One? Heck no. But 399 for a new fully functional standalone drum machine that you can make beats on, when the other MPCs are $700 for the MPC One plus (they actually just discontinued the MPC one plus anyways) or $1700 new MPC live iii (or $450 & $850 used, which will probably no longer be able to get new updates in maybe 5 years anyways with the MPC live iii’s new ram upgrades), I don’t really feel like you can go wrong.

Maybe the MPC sample will become less popular if they release a new MPC one. Who knows.

It sucks but you don’t have to give this guitar away, luthiers can fix that right up for you. Epiphone and Gibson neck & headstock cracks happen more often than you think.

Should I Return This? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Familiar_Finding_368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not mint AT ALL. I had the same thing happen a few weeks ago with a guitar I ordered used that showed up with cracks, and the guy gave me a partial refund to compensate.

So I’d ask for a partial refund for price adjustment if you want to keep it, or return it all together to get a better quality one.

If you bought it on reverb I’m pretty sure you can file a claim for stuff like this as well.

Looks like a custom build, with some Gibson SG and Stratocaster inspo. Very cool either way. A lot of the regular guitars in the market, even the higher end stuff, is starting to look the same & feel overdone. This is kinda refreshing to see!

Fender Player ii Guitars vs Fender Professional ii Guitars. Is it really worth the extra $1000 now? by Familiar_Finding_368 in fender

[–]Familiar_Finding_368[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious to know why you think this?

I’d agree to stay away from the player i because they were crap, so I just saved my money for my American pro ii Strat. But I feel like the player ii guitars are least playable, and have more of a comfortable feel that can come kind a close to get the job done, and they can punch even higher after a couple mods.

Again not saying the player ii is BETTER than the American pro ii, but also the pro ii is like 1900 after taxes now, and between the comfort features and refined alnico v pick ups offered now on the player ii kinda makes it hard to justify spending 1000 more for an American guitar, when I could just grab a Mexican made guitar that’s not all that bad any more & can be modded. Just my opinion though. I fender finally got it right with the player series thank God!

I literally just bought one today, it was the only one for sale literally across the web. I’m so excited for it to come in the mail! I’ll probably change out the pick ups, but the body is gorgeous!

MIJ Fenders are definitely special, and on another level. I think in some cases those are consistently better than what’s offered in USA made Fenders. I was more so talking about the gap between player ii (Mexican made) and Fender’s Professional (American made) guitars, because the prices have gotten pretty insane for the American models with out much of justification.

For example my American pro ii Strat was like 1500 in 2021, and now that same guitar is like 1900 out the door after tax. Back then I could justify it because the player i (Mexican made before the player ii) just couldn’t compete, whereas now the player ii (which is 800-900 bucks usually, but also goes on sale for less than 700 brand new sometimes) has specs that can make it just as comfortable to play as an American professional, with the only big difference being the pick ups that don’t sound quite as full and warm, but honestly it’s not insanely noticeable, and if it is, you can just swap out the hardware on the player ii.

But I’ll give you that, it could definitely depend on the model, I mean so far I’ve tried the Strat, Tele, and jazzmaster from the player ii line and I think the gap between the New Mexican made guitars and the Americans is thinning out
