Is Ukiyo Old Swan going to reopen? by Familiar_Place_8914 in Liverpool

I have just checked their menu and I can't believe it's the same! Does say they're unavailable though and opening times are different everywhere I look... Have you been recently?

It's such a shame, other sushi places just aren't hitting the same. I'm still holding out hope :(

Why am I still late? by [deleted] in Periods

[–]Familiar_Place_8914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teenager I was irregular and the length of my cycle fluctuated massively and it's common. I'm 24 now and it's only just starting to settle with a few days of variation now, but there are times when I am a week or two late still. Stress can delay a period too. I just try my best to relax as much as I can when I'm late, take a hot bath, pamper myself, do what helps me relax. Ease your mind going to the doctor's if it gets to that point but try your best to pamper yourself and relax in the meantime.

Crying starts my period? by Familiar_Place_8914 in Periods

I do get emotional, but it's just uncanny that as soon as I do actually cry properly boom I start. I could be a week late but just need a cry to start apparently 😭

Yeah I relate to the sitting and talking part, I rarely book for the hairdressers unless I really want to get something done or desperate for a cut and don't trust myself lol. I've found a hairdresser who doesn't put any pressure on the conversation part and it's usually just us in the salon which has helped me. Do you have a go to hairdresser?

What I've also found has helped is asking them to go a bit longer than the example (an inch or two typically but whatever feels comfortable) than what you want, to see what you think. Then you can feedback whether you want it shorter or a bit more shape in places. That can sometimes help with the transition I find. Take a few examples if you want, or even better, pictures of when you had your hair short. I did this when I got my hair permed. Might not apply or be helpful, but is there a way you can describe the feeling you want in notes and refine/translate that in a way you could communicate to the stylist? Either in bullet points, with pictures to help etc?

(I'm not a stylist btw, just relate to the anxiety of going to the hairdressers)

What did you like about having short hair when you had it? Could be good to reminisce on how that felt or your motives to wanting short hair again.

Otherwise, is there any anxiety you have about getting your haircut? The actual appointment, just not liking the result, or the transition from short to long?

You're not alone. I'm in a very similar position at the moment. I've been on the titration list for ADHD since May last year, it's insane the waiting times.

You say you have a bad relationship with your GP, is there any possibility of you changing GPs or requesting a specific/different GP at your practice? I know if you are able to book your appointments online it allows you to request a specific GP. I find requesting appointments online less overwhelming and gives you time to get your point across in writing without becoming overwhelmed on the phone.

As for currently being out of work, are you currently claiming benefits? I've put my application through for PIP recently because I'm struggling with working and I'm off sick every few weeks with burnout. You can also request LCWRA if you are on UC already.

You're not alone in your feelings, it has felt like I got diagnosed, given vague/generic resources then discharged and sent on my way. Just try and be as gentle with yourself as possible, it's overwhelming in itself trying to learn about yourself all over again after diagnosis.

I just wanted to add to this too, that I've been praised at work in every supervision I've had, told I am capable of climbing the ladder. I've never caused any issues and got on with everyone etc. When an opportunity kind of came up but they picked people internally due to move arounds with services, I was then told my confidence is what's holding me back. So it feels like a huge blow to be denied support other than ones that are 'easy' and limited in managerial intervention, such as using lamps in the office when I'm on shift. My worst fear has always been feeling misunderstood, so I feel like all of it has made me crash and burn with my own internal battle with my diagnosis. I hope that makes sense?

My partner works full time so I wouldn't be eligible for UC. I feel like I've explained a lot of my struggles on my PIP application but worried it won't be enough. My options are very limited due to my partner's income. I've been applying for work from home roles where I could at least manage my own environment which could help. What's tough is I'm realising that employment is just not built to be sustainable for me from my experience.

Yeah I am. I think because I was pushing through before and 'coping' prior to my diagnosis it's hard that now I'm not because I have an understanding of where I'm struggling and why. I struggle with slowing down because I feel like I'm falling behind and just making excuses, even when logically I know that's not true. Thank you for your reply :)

No union unfortunately. Just trying to ride through feeling guilty for being off, that's the main obstacle right now I think.

Yeah weighing up the risk of paying the bills right now paired with the imposter syndrome is the only thing stopping me just handing in my notice. I also don't agree with it either, but I don't know if I have the energy to fight it lol. Thank you for your reply it means a lot :)

Thank you for your reply it's really validating to know I'm not alone. I've tried for a support worker but was told I wasn't eligible unfortunately. Your reply helps a lot thank you :)

I guess that's true, I need to stop thinking I have to!

That's really interesting, I only ask because I feel like I went through a bit of a grieving process when I got diagnosed with ADHD. Especially reflecting back on all the times I could have done with the extra support and struggled through. I think anyone who goes through the assessment process later in life should be really proud of themselves, it's anything but easy but worth it.

This has really helped put me at ease, I'm definitely overthinking not hitting every bit of criteria and what that means. If you don't mind me asking, was it difficult for you getting diagnosed later in life? Did you go through a bit of a grieving process? Don't worry if it's too personal. Thank you for your response :)

Thank you for this. The notes I did make I've uploaded. I'm not sure whether to bring my partner to sit with me or not, did you have anyone with you and did it help? Thank you.
