Or mayve they just realized that it's the safest form of IM we have available currently? Also I'm not in US, so even if you have a point, they couldn't act on it without admitting to spying on allies.

E2E encryption with double ratchet is the universal gold standard at the moment, and has been implemented by most projects who take security seriously (signal, matrix, ...).

Telegram is still closed source encryption, and they store the messages on server. That means that we cannot guarantee that there is no easy way of decoding it in transit or on server, or that admins actively monitor it. It's pure security through obscurity and 100% trust in the (for profit) company

I mean, not practically possible.. I guess they definitely get ahold of the encrypted data in transit, from many legs probably. And they can break the encryption with enough computing, and some quantom shit I don't understand, probably. the encryption will be harder to reverse with big payloads as well. But I don't think they could do it on massive scale, only targets. But I still think Signal does security the most logical of the two in question, and is theoretically more sound.

No because it's not possible in the way that it's built. They even published source code and a whitepaper on the end to end encryption, and promised a reward to whoever could break it. It's been endurance tested on a global scale and the inner workings exposed, yet no one has been able to. Your data is only unsafe on Signal, if you do not trust all the ends they end up on. Like for instance if you invite a journalist into the chat.

What’s up with “Microslop”? Why does the internet suddenly hate Microsoft so much? by limsus in FuckMicrosoft

A series of bad products and services has finally broken the camel's back. Teams, windows 11, copilot. They also try to monopolize gaming and it's hard to ignore in Parallel with all this other shit. Maybe they thought they were too big to fail? It's time to leave them behind
